The charcoal filter comes stock in 2005 models. So if your 2005 still has the same smell, that means the charcoal filter does nothing to prevent it.

That also means that it's probably not worth the extra $$$ for the charcoal filter.

I had the same thing. I turn to a/c off and run the fan on high for 5 minutes before I park the car, it seems to help a lot.

I had that happened to me twice. It was only after I didn't run the ac for about a month and when I turned it on, it smelled like crap. It did go away though. I haven't had any other problems. I will try the other opinions on here the next time I run and before I shut it off.

I use the AC all the time, and thats how I got it. She was parked for 3 weeks (went home), but when I turned her on, no funny smell. This thing is just recent.

Here is the thing... on my 04, they sprayed some crap onto some vents that are close to the battery (open up the hood and see) and where the other pumps are... When you wash your car, the watter from your windshield runs through those holes. So this leads me to believe that its either me washing the car too often, or me using the AirCon too often and for short trips.
