Anyone know about Redline?
Anyone know about Redline?
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knows about Redline for transmission fluid and motor oil. I am thinking about going with it for my next oil change and since I'm getting a new tranny I think I'm gonna have the dealer put it in. I have heard good things about it but can anyone vouch for whether it helps? And more importantly, where can I get it?
Re: Anyone know about Redline?
I have heard nothing but good things about it. I know that most people swap their tranny fluids to redline when going Turbo or doing Nitrous on a NA setup.I was going to use the stuff when I was going to do a turbo bolt on on my G20..

Re: Anyone know about Redline?
Be careful about what fluid you put in your transmissions:
Automatic - see cautions in the Owners Manual about specific fluid.
Manual - with all the trouble people are having with the 6MT, you may not want to put in a non-Infiniti fluid (even if its better). It may give Infiniti an excuse not to replace the trans if you develop a problem.

Thanks guys...and gsg, that is a very good point. Glad you brought that up because I have been having problems and if my replacement conks out too, they would have a convenient excuse if I didn't stick with Infiniti's fluid.
Re: Anyone know about Redline?
I checked a while back about why they didn't include a tranny dip-stick in the G. The service manager advised that Nissan uses several different tranny fluid compositions for each car. He said that if your tranny ever fails, they do an fluid analysis, and even a minute amount of foreign fluid detected could void your tranny warranty. They found that service stations that sometimes check your fluids, finding a low tranny level, sometimes top up with generic fluid, thus causing many failures.
