Personally, I've gone to diesel to save some $$$! It smokes a bit, but diesel is cheaper than regular gas now!!

Also, the difference between 89 and 91 octane is usually about $.10, so with our 16(?) gallon tank, you're talking about $1.60 difference per tank. I spend more than that on a cup of coffee at Starbucks! So, for me, I'll spend the extra $1.60 to get the gas that is recommended in the manual.
(As far as 87 octane goes, I'd never put that in my car)
Our Tanks are closer to 20 gallons (19 and change).

I think that every one here on this Forum is with me when i say that Mc2 is really starting to **** me off on this subject. Mc2 if you wanna run regular in your 30K+ car, activate your konck sensors, get worse fuel economy, then go ahead. I dont car any more. Oh and by the way, the 3SGTE does not recommend any specific octane. Its just common sence that a high Po street engine gets the best pump gas available. And in my opinion the VQ35DE that we have is a High Po engine.

Peace every one.

sorry dude, I'll spend the extra $5 for the good stuff. 1 tank of 89 octane with my mods and I could be hearing "Pop goes the weasle" if you know what I mean.

I only put in 93 saving .20 a gallon won't make a difference in my life; if the spread was $1, I would have to really think about that.

I'll tell you right now, when I get even slightly skunky premium fuel from a cheap filling station while I'm travelling, my engine will preignite (cackle) if I'm overrunning a higher gear at a low speed.

Anyone else's motor cackle? Example: Say you're going 30 and you stick it in 6th and give it too much gas...you're overrunning the gearing and you arent getting the proper ignition for the gear you're running in because you arent travelling at the gear's optimum perfoming speed. Cackle cackle cackle! I hate that noise. A $37K car with 3K miles should never preignite. WTF.

As stated earlier, the difference between regular and premium in regards to the g is about $1.60.

If this was a forum for vehicles with retail values of around 15k, then perhaps I could understand the fuss. However this is a G35 forum...A 30k + car forum.

So you who buy regular won't give up $1.60 a tank and will sacrifice 15hp but you bought a 35k PERFORMANCE vehicle?

This is a logical leap which I simply can't comprehend.

You must have had a difficult time reading. I clearly said i put 91 octane (california) in my car. It's not about the money at all. I'll put 93 in my car too if i could.

I just think you have no idea what youre talking about sometimes but like to keep talking. Youre trying to convince everyone that 93 is better for every application without anything to even support it except your buddy who worked at a gas station who must know everything about how a car works.

I dont think there are very many people that are with you that i'm starting to **** them off. I'm just here sharing what i know just like you are. Just you because i disagree with you. You get pissed off when someone disagrees with you? If you don't care anymore why are you so mad? You obviously care enough to be mad. Don't get so defensive and don't be so sensitive, it's a public forum, don't get your knickers in a twist.

Really? The 3SGTE does not recommend any specific octane? Please read your MR2 owners manual.

Oh don't worry, i've been inside a 3SGTE too, you aren't the only one.

I was running on empty last night searching for a gas station when I found a Chevron by LAX and they were all out of 91 and 89. The 76 next to the Chevron was outta 91 and 89 to. WTF??? Maybe something to do with the hurricanes. Anyways I had no choice to put 87 but I only filled it $5 worth. I found another 76 later and put $40 worth of 91. Hopefully it didn't fuc anything up.

I wouldn't worry about it since it specifically says in the manual that you'll be fine if you need to put in 87 for a little while. Go check the manual. Just don't go WOT or take it in the upper rev range.

I don't think I've ever seen 93 here in California. I'm sure there are some places but I'm not going to go looking for it 91 Octane is fine with me.
