winter preps?

Hey guys i was wondering if any1 is selling their stock 17's or even 18's for that matter because my 19's are not going to hold up in the winter considering i live on a hill. I want to get all season or winter tires so if any1 put rims on their car or something and has the stock 17's sitting in their garage please PM me.

Just throw some studless snow tires on whatever wheels you have. You'll be fine. Just learn to drive on ice and snow. Skill > tires.

During the winter should you completely change rims and tires? I'm kinda new at winter driving so i don't know what can really happen. Sorry if this is a dumb question

You don't need to completely change wheels/tires. If you find a winter tire that you like that will fit on your summer rims, then you can just have the tires swapped. However, this gets expensive doing it twice a year, plus it's a hassle.

I have a second set of wheels with my winter tires on them (Blizzak LM-22's). It takes less than an hour to change them out.

Oh, and other winter preparations... put a fresh coat of wax on your car and wheels. This helps a lot with the salt, snow, ice, etc.

The problem isn't the wheels, it's the cost of the tires. Tires for 18" are expensive and 19"'s are flat out hard to find. 17" wheels (if they clear the brakes) are the best option and then you are looking at about $100 per tire. Thinner tires are better performing than wide ones in the snow, regardless of tread pattern. I don't put them on the G, I just drive an old Exploder for winter storms. I did put a different set of wheels and tires on my old Acura CL-S. It made a humongous difference in the snow. Drive weather handling is kinda like trying to dance in big floppy clown shoes.
