Dash light not working

I just did the mod today where you turn your side markers into turn signals by cutting the side marker wire and splicing to another wire running to the headlights. Everything works and looked good, although it was a PITA going in through the wheel wells.

Later that night when I went to drive, none of the dash lights would come on. Like I mean the turn signal/wear your seatbelt lights would come on, but not the back lighting behind the speedometer etc.

Do you this this is one of those "safety" features where if it thinks there is a light out it doesn't turn your dash lights on to let you know? The only thing that I can think of that would have caused this is the origional side marker wire that I didn't re-hookup to anything.

Do you think that that is the problem, and if so how should I fix it?

Why do so many people on these forums, like this ^^^^^ guy, have to be such dicks. a55hole

Anyway, I figure that these lights are one the same circuit as the interior dash lights, even though I don't know why it would be designed this way. I can try opening up the car again and connecting a resistor where the light used to connect to simulate actually having a light there. That will probably work, I just wanted to see if anyone knew off hand what the problem was.

It's because of this thread:
https://g35driver.com/forums/interior-exterior/69283-quick-question-turn-signal.html
"I am wicked 1337, I don't require a dual filament bulb. I just need the signals which I can digitally process with some extra components to select whichever feature is currently active. Ah yes, the benefits of suffering through 4 years of computer engineering at college. lol, I said wicked 1337."

Remember this, F'in Ahole? You sound pretty stuck up to me.

I was serious! That's something I would do and wouldn't discover until after ripping my car apart.

You think I'm stuck up because of one post where I'm proud of my degree and joking around? Don't take things so serious guys!

I am good at computers and electronics, which I am proud of, but I know jack about cars- which is why I come to these forums to ask you all, who know way more about it than I do.

Ha ha! I'm an idiot. It was the Dimmer switch, thanks geeman49. I don't know how that got turned down, buts it's funny that it coincidentally happend right after I changed the sidemarker wiring. Goes to show what happens when you over think things!
