Auto Start Problem!
I have been trying to find a shop that sells, let alone install a remote start on my coupe 6mt. I have called pretty much everyone I can think of and nobody sells them for manuals. I asked if I bought one online if they could install it and noone will install one on a manual they say becasue of liability issues. What is up with this? I know people have them on there 6mt's, but what are my options for install? I live in Kirkland Wa (near seattle) if anyone has ideas.

There is a way to bypass the clutch having to be put in. There are quite a few people with remote start on manuals, you just have to make sure and not forget to put in it first gear.

no its actually alot easyer to do on a 6MT coupe. but as for WHY the shops wont do it.. i believe it is a felony to install remote start on a manual and both YOU and the shop will be liable.
if you really want to get it done.. go talk to them in person and bring cash

if nothing else it sets the shop up for a potential lawsuit if you screw up. my little brother is an installer at a very high end shop. they don't do auto start on manuals, they set up in-dash dvd's to only play when the vehicle is in park, etc...

You can't your car to a well known / high end place. Seriously have to take it to a place where they care more about money.
Remote starts on mt cars aren't illegal (yet?) but they are discourage due to the many accidents like Klumzyee pointed out. I know for a fact that if your mt vehicle is equipped with a remote start, dealers will not work on it. Too many times have the techs pushed the button out of curiosity while in gear and rammed the car into the wall.
If you lived in Cali, I could recommend a couple of places.

My car is set up so that the remote start will only work when the car is in neutral, therefore I never have to worry about whether I put it in gear or not. The place that I got mine installed is a very renowned and high-end shop that does this on a regular basis.
Having it installed is not ilegal. Whoever installs it would be liable for any accident caused by it. That is why no shop will run the risk of installing it on a manual transmission vehicle. The risk is too great. I have installed remote starters before and very cool to have.

The VQ35 6mt tranny has a PNP switch installed in it. This swich sends a signal out ONLY when the car is in N. You can use this signal to ONLY allow your car to start when in N. While unsafe on most manual trannys, when a remote start is installed on a manual transmission that utilizes a factory installed neutral position switch they are JUST as safe as autos. If you go this route I would STRONGLY recomend checking the switch for proper operation once a month (ie try remote starting it in gear while you ar in it).
Shops, however, don't keep this sort of information on hand. They have NO idea what cars have switches and what cars don't, so they just don't do any of them.
Also, if done right the clutch will still have to be pushed in every time you manually start the car, but the remote start will temporarily bypass the electronic clutch switch while remote starting the car.

There are several ways, depending on what remote starter you have. If your remote start has a neutral safety switch that requires a (-) signal on it before the remote start sequence will initiate you can tie the NSS directly to the PNP switch. Nothing else is needed.
If you don't have a NSS then you can wire the PNP switch into another shutdown, like the hood pin. You will HAVE to diode isolate these signals to prevent feedback.
