Isn't this the Nismo?

My car is a 2004 if that matters with the full aero package if that matters.

I found these while doing a Nismo Bumper search on this site.

Unfortunately, its not that easy. Yes, you could pop it out, even use a little heat to help "straighten it out" but ultimately fixing a soft OEM bumper thats been hit in this manor with bondo will never really work. Even if you get it to come out looking new again with bondo, bondo by nature isnt as flexiable as the OEM bumper is, so the slightest bit of movement, bend, impact or flex the OEM bumper goes through, the applied bondo will simply flake, crack or break off. Even if it doesnt completly break away, you'll get the infamous paint spidering (caused by differences in heat "weather" and the two different materials, "plastic & the filler used"), which if you ask me, is just as worse as having a dent. They do have special plastic fillers for such parts (urathane and so on) but the costs to use them and the labor involed usually out weigh simply replacing the whole bumper, in which this case is your best bet. Replace it out right (OEM or aftermarket) and dont worry about it...

As for your fender, that is probably (I would need to see it first hand to be certain) fixable, and the headlight, you can always get a new case, rip it apart and put it back together and no, it won't leak if it's done right using the proper sealent (not your over the counter bathroom silicone)...

Sorry to hear what happen! Sometimes its little dents like these that annoy us more than the big ones, but what can you do? It happens to the best of us... Good luck with your fix. If you need help with anything, feel free to drop me a line....

my opinion. go with some 06 projectors go with an aftermarket front bumper and you'd have to get a picture of the whole car to explain the damage inbetween the hood and your passenger fender.

New plan.

The person I hit is basically being a **** and won't let me just pay for the damages to their vehicle out of pocket and is insisting everything go through insurance which means that I'll have to get the car fixed back to stock and I'll be dropped by my insurance at the end of the year.

Since no police report was filed and she really has no proof at all that I hit her I'm tempted to claim that she just backed into me. If I wasn't HONEST I'd probably do it.

I just don't understand why she just wouldn't want me to cut her a check for her damages and not report it. She will get a hit on her insurance for an accident claim even though she wasn't the one who caused the damage.

Bad week...

Sorry to hear about the accident....that's one of those frustrating ones.

My only concern here is the hood. That gap is not good. The hood is designed to fold in half on impact (so as not to go thru the window), so a smaller impact could have bent it a little...I would check the hood thoroughly.

Start asking around now for a good body shop and insist the repair work is done there, the insurance recommended ones are usually no good.

Good luck!

I can understand where she's coming from. I would want to do the same. By going through insurance, she is sure that everything is accounted for and not being taken for a ride - peace of mind. She suffers no hits on her insurance since her insurance won't put out a penny.

I would probably do the same thing that she is doing. I had some back into my old car in the street an 04 Z. I didn't call the police, because he said he would pay for damages. To make a long story short, I had to pay to fix the car. I called the police after the fact and they said that I could take him to small claims court, but they wouldn't write him a ticket.

I tried the trust route once, and I just can't do it again.

Her insurance will still have an "accident" on it so when she goes to renew or chance insurers it will actually have a hit on it... while definitely not as bad as an at fault accident, it's not true that her insurance won't at all be effected.

At least this is what both her and my insurance told me... they could be wrong.

I told her if she got an estimate I would go to her place and write her a check in person. Heck I probably would have thrown in 500 bucks just to keep her mouth shut. Seeing as how much my insurance will go up over the next 3 years (if they don't drop me), that would have been a bargain. If I failed to do that she could then just turn it in to insurance, no problems. Yet she still wanted to go through insurance.

She is taking much bigger risks calling the insurance because if I had one single dishonest bone in my body I would just claim that she backed into me in the Fred Meyer parking lot or something and then we would both end up in court argueing over what happened and she would end up paying to fix her own car. In my state you have 72 hours to file an accident report (which neither of us did) and not one single cop has been involved thus far. She really has NO proof I hit her at all.

The whole thing is dumb.

I hope so! I'll probably end up selling it afterwards due to future insurance issues

Well, in CA and from personal experience - a not at fault accident does not affect insurance premiums.

Well, Ill speak from experience because I'm going through the same **** right now.

If you look back a few weeks, I had an electronic gate close on my car and with the exception of the headlight and the hood gap, I have identical damage.

Ive been quoted from 1400-1600. Add in the hood and headlight, your talkin about 2200-2500. The bumper WILL NOT be salavagable. Trust me, yours is worse than mine and they said in no way can they fix it. From Infiniti, a new front bumper is $274 so it really doesnt justify trying to go aftermarket (as most bumpers are ~400.) Sorry for the bad news man.... Seems to be a bad month for cars (3 of my 8 neighbors on my cul-de-sac alone this month have had minor fenderbenders, myself included.)
