HELP: About to File for Lemon Law - Long Post
Hello my fellow G35 owners. I wanted to express what I've been going through, and get help on filing for Lemon Law here in NY.
Long story short (ok - the story is not so short): There has been a service bulletin out for this "clicking/creaking" noise coming from the rear axle. The car is going in for the 4th time next week and I know I will have the problem again, since the car is only 8 months old and I have 8,100 miles on it.
It started about into month #3 of owning the car, but I brought it in the 4th month of owning it. They've said they fixed it, and the problem keeps coming back. The problem is not as severe, but I'm so in tuned with looking out/hearing for the problem, all it took was 1 "click/creak" from the rear of the car for me to bring it back.
So here I am, on visit #4 next week. I think it's a dual combo problem with the car itself, and the INCOMPETENT unprofessional technicians that have worked on my car. This is positively the worst service experience of my life. I leased the car at Competition Imports in St. James, Long Island. BY FAR THE WORST service I've ever encounted in the 10+ years of owning a vehicle. They are supposed to be the #1 Infiniti dealership here in Long Island and the tri-state area for that matter. The service manager is a shmuck and tries to give me the run-around every time.
I even had each motor replaced in the driver and passenger side door because it was making this obnoxious "winding" noise as you put the window up, so they replaced the motors in both windows. Now, the passenger side window does not even go up and down properly. The technicians who work on my car are so unprofessional and ignorant, it's pathetic and sad. Not to mention the 2 big grease handprints on the inside of my car that they had to remove with their "special high solvent industrial" grease remover as the Service Manager put it to me. I just laughed in his face.
Sorry to vent my fellow G owners, but I'm very dissappointed about my entire experience. I know there is the problem with the car, but its the service I've experienced is what has bothered me the most. I've already spoken to the General Manager of the dealership and have filed a complaint with Infiniti directly.
So my thing is - has anyone ever filed for lemon law and how do I go about it? Will Infiniti hold me to my lease and try to put me in an '06? Can I get out of it? Can I get all my $$ back from all the 8 payments I've made so far into the lease and terminate my lease and get a different car from a different manufacturer?? Any insight to anyone's expertise or knowledge of what to expect when I file for lemon law (because this will happen again within the next year and then the car is history) would be very very helpful.
Thanks Everyone!

Here in Cali, to apply for lemon law, the problem has to be with a fundamental piece of the car. Like if the engine wasnt starting or was shutting off mysteriously by itself.
I dont think the clicking/creaking will qualify for lemon law to be honest.
There is a TSB on this problems which i think includes tightening a bolt. Have they performed this TSB at the dealership?
Perhaps this will help:

I know there is another TSB regarding a clicking noise with tightening of a bolt in the rear of the car, but I cant find it right now.

Here is the Infiniti factory TSB, which might be affecting you. Good luck with your issue.

Try taking it to a different dealer man, I've heard of this issue...but everyone on the forum that has been complaining about it got it faxed. I believe the first time you take it to the dealer they will just try to regrease it, on the second try you've got to tell them to completely replace it.

Better study up on NY lemon law. I don't know about NY, but under FL lemon law, you have to have a substantial impairment of the use, value or safety to qualify. You creaking may or may not qualify -- its not a slam dunk.
If you qualify for a replacement (again, in Florida), you can get a refund or replacement vehicle, but you always have to pay for the use you got out of the car -- there is a formula in the law. On a repurchase/refund, you can sometimes not wind up with what you think you deserve if you had an over-valued trade-in.
Also, FL requires the fourth attempt to be with notice to the manufacturer, so there are some hoops to jump through. Make sure you have your ducks in a row.

Brought my g into atlantic infiniti in LI & as soon as I mentioned the problem... The service manager told me to bring it in the following week so he can have a new rear for my G with no questions asked. Try giving them a call & talk to ceaser about it.Good luck.

I've had the same issue on my 04 6MT, after many attempts including upgrades of right/left axles....the dealer ended up replacing the passenger rear caliper unit. They diagonse it was a sticky/faulty caliper.
I know you don't have Brembo's, but this warranty replacement solved my creaking problem which went on for over 6 months.
You may want to suggest.
Good luck!
