In terms of sound, the exhaust and engine are the same. So, I would think so. Hell, the 03-04's and 05's sound the same and the engine changed.

Im hearin' that 06 got quieter, but I don't believe this since its still the same part numbers for all related components? Also, this is a signature note, wouldn't make sense to get rid of it. I have to admit, a big part of the reaon I fell in love with the car is due to the exhaust note sounding like some sort of 120K exotic.

Have you seen the new Z commercial? They have the new Nismo Z (they even highlight the word "NISMO"). Anyways, you can really hear the exhaust notes on that car in the commercial. Our cars sound like the Z so I would guess it would sound like the commercial for the Z. Maybe.

I am guessing you are referring to the posts made by some guy overseas in Indonesia or Phillipines or something like that? The sound laws in the US are a lot different and usually less strict compared to other countries. Plus sports car buyers in the US demand that kind of exhaust tone, so no I bet the exhaust sounds the same on an 06.

infiniti would be stupid to make the car quieter.. but then again they did give the car 7 less horsepower because of sound issues..thankfully the z-tube is only 75 bucks haha

When was this? How come I haven't heard of this 7 less HP? You mean I would have had 305 HP but it was too noisey and now I have only 298?!

No, the Z has a deeper, more agressive tone. Why else do you think ONE of the reasons G owners purchase the Z-tube?

Because they are delusional in thinking they will gain HP from noise? hehe. I think you are right: the Z has a deeper noise. I personally would just get a new exhaust and that'll wake up the neighbors Maybe the HKS.

The extra 7 Horsepower is obvious

BEFORE the 298 hp versions:

Z: 287 HP
G: 280 HP

See the 7 hp now?

The G comes with two air silencers STOCK to keep the note to a less throaty, less loud exhaust note. As soon as you ditch the silencers, youll notice a deeper grunt to the car in the mid to high range. Low revs arent effected as much.

Then again, everyone had this question too... Will the 05 be quieter... well the proof is in the puddin... they sound exactly the same as the 03/04 models. The only difference in the VQ's sound really comes from AT vs MT. The AT's IMO have more of an electronic "whine" to them at low throttle.

OH, I was thinking about the 05 and our 298 HP. So, you are saying I add the Z tube and I get 305 HP? Hmm...I'm sure someone will dispute this easily However, I will get one though. Was thinking of the Carbon Fiber one but may settle for the plastic ABS one since I'm not going to show off anything.

Oh, in no way am I saying that the 7 hp comes specifically from the z tube. I was just stating the 7 hp differnece between the two cars and the difference in the z tube versus the "g tube" if you will.

The Z tube isnt the only difference in the G vrs. Z when it comes to the engine. Its just the most common thing that is replaced to gain a few horses and sound for such a cheap price. I believe I saw a dyno that showed it actually did gain 5-6 hp or something. But I'm not even going to bother searching for it, since thats basically useless these days with all broken links, outdated attachments, and those glitchy images that this forum has had going on lately.
