It would be a hell of a lot of work.

And check out Tinmans Twin Turbo 5AT.

I agree...it would be way too much work and pricey. Might as well go built auto (it'd be faster anyway that way) or just sell the car for a 6MT.

Don't even try to convert your 5at into a 6mt, might as well trade it in and even that is a a huge hassle (big cash loss), either way you do it you won't come out on top unless you just stick with your 5at.

why not? i think you can do it. you'll need to find a 6MT tho.. You'll also need a new center counsel for your interior.. and ecu?

good luck on the project - might be cheaper to find a messed up 6MT and rebuild vs a new one good luck on it

edit i see u have an 05... IMO just trade it in and buy another 6MT 05.. especially right now before the 06 hits.

You'll get:
1. New "High REV" motor
2. 6MT gauge cluster w/shift light
3. New 6MT interior
4. Stronger Rods - Internal
5. Stronger Rod Bolts - Interal
6. Built to redline at 7k
7. Redesigned Intake Manifold
8. New Improved ECU
9. Variable Timing on the exhaust side as well as intake

people are right, it will cost you more to do the switch than to just sell your existing car and buy a new one.

Good luck

better off to just swap out the whole car... if you did manage to swap it out I'm sure you would have problems later on down the road...

AT to MT swaps are only done on hondas.

And may be BMW, but then again... if you have money nothing is impossible.

Agreeing with everyone else, you're better off getting a new 6mt car.

But if you're concerned about an Auto not being able to handle that extra power...you're dead wrong. You can get an upgraded Torque Converter and a bunch of other mods to beef up your tranny.

And from what I've read on these forums, A modded Auto Tranny Vs. a modded Manual Tranny can actually take more abuse/horsepower. Do a search on the boards, and check out Gurgenpb's ride.

but the cost to buff up an AT tranny to withstand enough power compared to a MT tranny is costly. having to purchase torque converters, valve bodys, etc. but anyways, if your worried that your AT can't sustain 350-400whp then your wrong. usually if you stay at stock boost level you can stick with stock internals. if you want more power then thats a different story.

There are plenty of us with ATs in FI land. I know it's not a Turbo, but my S/C puts out 385 to the wheels and 315 tq. I've only done a tranny cooler ($50 bucks) and thats it. I just passed 3,000 hard miles a few days ago.

Like someone above said, go ask Tinman.

And before I put the Vortech in, I also questioned upgrading to the 6mt. In the end, you lose too much on the trade in and the tranny swap is just not practical. I think there was a post directly on point a few months back and pretty much got the same responses.

im not really scared of the power, more of the torque, cuz i drive my G really hard..if i get the chance.ill race some ppo or just let everything go. im scared if i redline too much my tranny will get messed up. How much would a torque converter cost??
