Solved my console/shifter squeak (quik fix)
BUT...I didn't do the felt-tape solution that is found on infiniti-help.com. After having seen how easy it was to pop off the metal surround on the console I went home, - I popped off the metal around the shifter (6MT) - examined what I could (without taking shift **** off) - then, with my fist, re-seated the metal surround back into it's final position.
My squeak has disappeared, for now. I think its just a matter of the clips working themselves loose over the course of a few weeks of bumps that creates and exacerbates the squeaking. I figure if I keep re-seating the metal trim though that I will eventually wear away at the clips' slots. So next time it starts squeaking I'll felt-tape everything properly.
So if you're squeaking, try it out. I hope it works as a quick (but probably temporary) solution for some of you as well!
