If you had about $5k to spend and an '03 5AT, what would YOU do?
A little background info:
.................................................. .....................................
So I got in a fender bender the other day b/c some lady decided not to look into oncoming traffic while turning onto the street...long story short, their insurance somehow thinks it's going to take about $6k to fix my car (cost + "rental car fees", etc...). The fender is the only thing needing to be replaced other than taknig care of some scratches down the passenger side. I figure I can spend about $1000 on making the car look stock (most likely not an OEM fender, but something comparable) and I would pretty much then have the rest to spend on the car.
.................................................. .....................................
What would YOU do with about $5k to an '03 5AT? I am looking to maybe reduce as much weight as possible and not necessarily gain huge amounts of HP. In the process I would also like to maybe do a few engine mod's to lend itself to forced induction in the future. Other than things such as safety features/convenience features, I am willing to take out/replace any parts in the car that simply add unnecessary weight (i.e., seats (front/maybe rear), engine components, etc.). BTW, I have already upgraded the wheels/tires. While I do know a lot about cars, I do not have a vast knowledge of car modification. I would also maybe consider taking the car to Z/G specialist (in So Cal) and see what they could do for me as maybe a package, if anyone knows any GOOD shops around here. I am open to any suggestions any of you guys have. Thank you.

Satin Vortech S/C plus install = $5000 +/- $250
1 step colder plugs = $50
gates belt = $35
that will give you a good 100rwhp at redline more than you have now (this would keep the Vortech conservative tune as you would not have money left for tuning)

I know several people who would disagree with your statement, including one of the nicest G's out there IMO (See: Tinman)

I would go many of the ways listed here:
If you ultimately want FI - then only go down the road of what makes that happen for you - THE RIGHT WAY!
If FI isn't the way - You could do almost all of the bolt on's, including cams for about $5,000 - at least the ones that make sense to do like exhaust, gears, intake, cams and heads...
