It's funny how people just assume that the dyno at Church's is incorrect due to the absolute numbers being higher. Again, we could have a dyno tell us that we have 1000 HP, but as long as it's consistent, then it's ok. My car did 271HP at Church's last time. That number by itself means nothing though. But if I also told you that 280 HP 6MTs get about 255-258 there, and that 298 HP 6MTs get 268 there, then you have a point of reference.
I wish I could give you baseline dyno numbers. I didn't dyno before beginning my mods. I have to trust the 280 crank hp spec from the factory.

G35_TX: Why are your HP and TQ falling so srastically at 6.6K RPM. I thought the 05/6MT revlimiter was at 7.0K to 7.2K RPM.

Is it just me? Everytime I look at a VQ35 Dyno TQ curve, I'm always impress at how flat it is. This is one great engine, whether you are looking at an 03/04 or 05/06.

Cool

LUV2DRIVEMYG35,
With the amount of mods, you should be closer to 258 to 260whp. I think your wheels may be giving you a slightly higher drive train loss, 24% to 26%.
260 whp/ 0.8= 325 crank HP

I dyno’d 221whp, 21% drive train loss assuming 280 crank hp. I have the factory chrome 17”. The guys at shop said my numbers seemed low, but I was the first 5AT to be dyno’d. With Invidia G200, Z-tube+K&N, and MD ½” spacer+ISO Thermal Kit, I dyno’d 249whp.
249 whp/ 0.79= 315 crank hp

Last mod dyno’d.

By the way, your car looks sweet.

My wheels are lighter than stock (25.5 lbs). The rears weight 23.5 lbs and the fronts weigh 22.5 lbs.

I didnt think it was about how light your wheels are... arent the negative effects of wheels based on the rotational inertia of the bigger wheel diameter itself?

Also remember the tire weight may have some effect as well. You probably have 275/40/18 (maybe 30-32lbs depending on the brand of tire) on the rears. Versus stock 245/45/18 (or 235/50/17)

Just as another point of reference, I dyno'd the same day as G35StrongMan (the second 5AT to be dynoed at that shop). I ended up with 239whp. But I had Borla exhaust, popcharger, 3/8" spacer, z-tube, and Enkei RPF1 wheels (if that matters). I have the ISO thermal kit waiting for me when I get home from my business trip. With the cooler weather+thermal kit, I'm going to redyno and I'm hoping to break 245whp.

The car is slowly hitting the speed limiter at that point. 145 mph it hits and stops. Due to the fact we have a higher RPM, you see it do this on the dyno on the 05s now.

No. I'm running OEM 225/45 front 245/45 rears.

Ok, so given that I have headers, hi-flow cats, and racing pulleys, another 14-15hp certainly seems like a legitimate increase. Perhaps I should be producing more. Hard to say. Thanks for the info.

You guys argue about d.t. loss. Who cares???? Run your car at the track, do the math from your trap speed, then you'll know how much power you really make.

LUV2DRIVEMYG35,
I was curious about the wheels (rime + tire) possibly effecting the drive train loss. I might buy the RP03s SBC for my G next year.
19X8.5F (20.5lbs) 19.X9.5R (22.5lbs)
245/35/19F 265/35/19R

Shift_Skyline,
Running a larger diameter rim would shift the mass toward the outside of the wheel. I guess I’ll find out if a lighter wheel counter acts the shifting of the mass. This weekend I’ll weigh my rear wheels.

Firefox,
I think I was the first stock 5ATand you were the first moded 5AT.
I ordered the Stillen Air box (4-6whp) and KJR LW pulley (5-7whp). Hoping to break 260whp by the middle of November.
