2003 vs 2005

hello-

after venting to my local dealer about having to replace my brembo rotors at 30k (and having to replace a lemon engine at 27k) he came up with an interesting proposition. they are willing to give me a 2005 at about an additional $5k, without me having to do any of the work recommended by the dealer (new rotors, pads all around, tires all around). the car also has minor dings and scratches...

supposedly the 2005 they have available is the premium package whereas mine has no options (though they both are the 6mt)......

question is...would you go for it? they are also willing to give me a deal on a 2006, though it wouldn't be as good as the 2005..

My Advise

First of all, I would call the dealer tomorrow morning and secure the deal for the 05'. You would be crazy not to! Do it before they change their minds.

This is a no brainer. I don't think I need to explain my reasoning. It will cost you 2k min. for brakes and tire alone. You get an new car for 3 more.

As far as the 06's, see what your cost would be. Optimally you would like to get into an 06'. try to get an 06' for 5K. Tell them you don't mind waiting a little.

Your car in the current state is probably worth 24k. So if you pay an additional ~6.5k for an 06' you will be able to get a new G at a discount of 7k.

I would say it would be a good investment and an upgrade.

It's a great deal.. it will pay for itself when you sell the car

Tranny's on the 05's are much better too. I dont think anybody is going to be able to argue that.

Long time ago in a place far away, there was this guy name himike who had a 2003 G35 Coupe. One weekend he was driving through a enchanted forest around a beautiful lake.

He allowed the valet to park his car at a local club house and the dimwitted valet plunged his car right into a lake. (unfortunately at that time, most of the valets do not know how to engage the reverse gear on the manual transmission G35 Coupe) As himike clubbed the valet to bloody chunks, a beautiful woman in skimpy outfit appeared on the lake surrounded by a golden glow. She looked at himike and asked "Sir, which one of these vehicles belonged to you?"

Two vehicles rose out of the lake surface besides the woman. One was a brand new 2005 Infiniti G35 model with premium package glittering in the sun; on the other side was a used 2003 G35 with dings, scratches, no premium package, black plastic center console, dead brakes, bald tires and a transplanted engine.

and himike said......

i dont care much about the '03 brembos, since non-brembo performs almost as good. i would take the '05 in a heartbeat. i think that interior upgrade in '05 makes a HUGE difference.

Go sit in and drive the 05; then you'll be able to decide.
