Clicking when my car first starts out after sitting 20 minutes or so...

I have been noticing lately that if i leave my car for a while and then start it up, back out of a spot, and begin in first gear, i hear a clicking sound for a few seconds. If i stop it doesnt do it again, but i have to leave my car for a while to get it to reproduce the sound. I noticed it in a g35 sedan 5at that i was shuttled home in the other day at the dealer too.... what is this? Anyone know what im talking about? I really dont know how to describe the clicking....

it's the rear axle. Bring your car to the dealer.

Rear Axle Click

It seems to me that every G will eventually get this problem. I called my dealer to tell them about it and the service person said they have never heard of this rear axle clicking problem.

Sure they didn't........

I still havn't got mine fixed yet.

FYI I have an 04.5' Coupe w/ only 6k mi. Clicking started at 5k mi.

If it only happens when you start out & then it's OK.....

Then it's the ABS system initializing.
It makes a chattering/ratcheting sound for a few seconds then stops.
Completely normal.

I know this is a problem a lot of the crew is having, but has it been issued from Nissan as a true TSB from the manufacturer? I know infinitihelp.com isn't a Nissan site.

Correct me if I'm mistaken!

its not from ANY stop... its just after my car has been turned off. It only happens in 1st gear the first start. Maybe it is just my abs... it doesnt really bother me that much and it doesnt seem to effect the performance of the car or anything like that

Sounds like the ABS self test upon start-up. It should make the noise one time only, as you reach the speed of something like 10 mph or so.

The axle rattle is always there. I am having that fixed per a TSB.

Actually, for your own piece of mind . . . Review your Owner's Manual under the ABS section per the index. There, it goes through this self test feature.

ABS system setting itself.

The axle clicking is a different sound and is present all the time not just at start up.( until the TSB is applied)
