Monster Porsche Wanted a go!!!
Re: Monster Porsche Wanted a go!!!
There's tons of those Porsche Cayennes here in SoCal already. The ultimate rich yuppie mobile for soccer moms married to wealthy guys. I find it all hilarious. Its right up there with the H2 and Excursion as far as ridiculous SUV's go. There's no end to the madness.

--Technically, the Laforza isn't a Ferrari. Rather it's built by
Pininfarina. Pininfarina is separate from Ferrari, but the two companies have a long history of working together on vehicles. In fact, Pininfarina has designed and built many of the most famous Ferraris.---
That Laforza car is ugly as hell ;p
The porsche made the SUV to try and take a piece away from all the other luxury SUV car companies. As porsches go, they are all pretty well designed and mechancially sound. That new $400,000 porsche is awesome. And about the price didn't you expect it to be 50-80 ? Theres something to be said and a cost just for the name "porsche".

Re: Monster Porsche Wanted a go!!!
The VW V10 turbo deisel toureg will no way in hell beat the Porcshes' Turbo SUV version. The tubro SUV will infact beat us (g35) in a 0-60 race. It is one bad @ss SUV check out porsches website. the turbo is as bad @ss as they come...

Re: Monster Porsche Wanted a go!!!
Conquie, you're probably right. I always keep an SUV in my stable because I value the "Utility" part of the equation, needing a vehicle to do all the things that my "toy" coupe cannot do.
After owning these types of vehicles for nearly a decade, I have an instinctive aversion to the idea of true "Sport" in them, at least on-road. But I suppose the technology truly is coming along to where their traditional dangers (rollover potential and such) is gradually being engineered out of them.
It just always seemed to me like true performance is best left to performance cars alone, but maybe the time to shed my prejudice on this might finally be here.

Sorry to inform you Ferrari also had an SUV it was know as the Laforza, it was owned by the Ferrari and use Ferrari part. Ya the VW Toureage is nice but I like the Euro version of it which can kick the Porshes ****. It like a V10 turbo desiel.

Laforza uses Ford 5.0L engines, Ford AT trannies, and Ford 4WD systems.

Re: Monster Porsche Wanted a go!!!
Folks,
Agreed that the jerk suffers little-man sydrome or some other inferiority complex.
Back to why Porsche would make the Cayanne, I read an interesting thought in this month's issue of Sports Car International that you folks may be interested in. It was in one of the regular columns at the front.
-Porsche makes sports cars. And they're pretty darn fine cars at that.
-But the demand for such cars is very volatile. When the economy is not strong, people stop buying 911s and Boxsters. Even when the economy is strong, it's tough to recoup development costs at the leading edge.
-People buy SUVs in huge quantities. They're a heckuva pile more functional than 2 seaters, right.
-The rationale the writer was given was that the Cayanne sales, and predictability in sales will give Porsche the corporate strength to withstand setbacks in the economy and push development in their core business: building the ultimate driving machines that has been their niche since God was a boy.
-The columnist's cases in point were the recent introduction of the new 911 GT3, which by all accounts is, from what I've read, awesome; and the upcoming Carrera GT supercar, which is pure sex spilt out in exotic materials and sheet metal.
So if that works for Porsche, I'm okay with the gigantic elephant they call Cayanne. Now if we could only squash the jerks that own them. ;o)
[no offense intended to all those nice 911 and Boxster owners out there
) ]
Cheers,
Derek

Re: Monster Porsche Wanted a go!!!
I would never buy an SUV if I wouldn't need one and even then a 80K porsche would not be my choice.(even if I had the money)
Maybe I would consider this 13s crossover/factory sleeper..

Re: Monster Porsche Wanted a go!!!
Guy's....Growler again. I'm this thread starter. With all that us G35'r have said...and belive me I appreciate your input as I had said I could not believe what I saw or what I heard when the overpriced...sun blocking, excess to the max SUV pulled up to me for a race. Things would have been different on a sunny, dry desert highway, say in Northern Nevada....my coupe would have run that thing to the limit....just to see if the driver had ***** enough to back the specs up..instead of blasting out on a radar enforced canyon road in Irvine California. I don't need tickets.
Growler...good job on the discussion folks that's why I like our forum.

Re: Monster Porsche Wanted a go!!!
That Porsche SUV is horrid looking. 80 thou is quite a ransom to drive something that is butt ugly. Imagine the beast of a G you could make if you spent 80 grand on it.
