I agree that the Z's rear is ugly. Those sharp pointy taillights in particular. I'm sure that will be some peoples' favorite part however. So it goes...

I have a blk / blk coupe.. I leased it so I wont be adding on a spoiler.. but I personally love it without a spoiler... but if I had the CHANCE... I think I would buy one and put it on.. Why? Becuase when your like 20 ft away from the car looking at the back of it... the back seems to get really narrow and the car doesnt look big and wide... I think the spoiler would add more dimension to it and fix that problem.. thats how I see it.. either way.. this car is dman nice.. u cant go wrong either way.. have fun... good luck.. peace

The front of the Z???? That's the most boring part of that car. Why would you want that instead of the G's front end?

Yeah, looks are subjective as they say. Why would I want that instead of the G's front? There several cars out there already that have vertical lights and a grill placed similarly. The CTS and SC430 are two I can think of off the bat. That look really isn't all that unique.

What car do you think looks like the Z from the front?

In all of Infiniti's commercials, billboards and advertising all the G35 coupes don't have spoilers. have you guys notice that?

I wouldn't say ALL don't have the spoler. There's a fold-out poster of a red coupe with a spoiler hanging on my bedroom wall now, which was an ad in Motor Trend about 5 months ago. I've also seen a few billboard ads in SoCal recently that have the spoiler. Its always kindda cool when you're driving around and you see your car on a billboard. Re: *** What Looks Nicer? With or Without Spoiler?****

I just picked up my new G today and until today I was dead set on a spoiler, now I'm not so sure. When I found that my closest dealer (which is 2 hours away) could not get one until next week or later I said scew it and went and picked it up with no spoiler. I had already waited a week for them to get it in. I figured I would just buy a knock-off version online, have it installed locally and save about $300-350 bucks. On the way home we stopped to eat at a restaurant and as I looked at my car I started thinking "hmm, do I really need spoiler? That puppy looks nice!" Now I don't know what I'm gonna do. I may drive it awhile w/o spoiler and see what I think. In 4 hours I've gone from 100% pro spoiler to the 50-50 mark.

You know, I was just typing this I thought of how stressed I was getting about the spoiler decision for my brand new G. Then I realized, "Wow, I have a BRAND NEW G!" What a wonderful problem/decision to have!

The spoiler makes the car. I would definitely get the spoiler if I was anybody. So many of my friends saw my car and said the same thing about the spoiler. At first they said my car looks nicer than the other G's they've seen and I said it should be the same except I have a spoiler and they said that's what it is. It totally makes the car!!

Heh...it's bad but whenever I see a G without the spoiler or the brembos I can't help but think that it's kinda incomplete.

It's all about your preference. If the spoiler has to "grow on you", then you shouldn't get the spoiler. From day one, I didn't like the spoiler, and still don't. The first time I walked into a dealership, and there was a red coupe sitting at the entrance. I was blinded by it's looks, then I walked to the back of the car and noticed the spoiler. My first impression was, "it doesn't match this fancy car". But, to each it's own, and I think there was a vote in the past, which was 50-50.
As far as the Brembo comment, I think it's easy enough to paint the calipers to yellow, right? I would have to agree, that the color of the calipers makes the car looks nicer.

Why shouldn't you get the spoiler if it has to grow on you? I'd rather be happy with the looks of my coupe for the long term than get it based on first impressions.

But as you said, to each his own.

Did you get the G because you thought it would "grow on you"??? I didn't think so. I was impressed with my car from the moment I saw it, and have been in love with it ever since. You can always get the spoiler later, if you feel that you are missing something, and if you are second guessing yourself. Those are some of the reason you shouldn't get the spoiler if you feel like it has to "grow on you".

To each his own.

Re: *** What Looks Nicer? With or Without Spoiler?

I didn't want the spoiler initially either but it did indeed "grow on me". Normally I haven't liked spoilers on any car, with the exception of Porsche 911 Turbos and the occasional car here and there like the Pontiac Fiero for example, which in its final "GT" version looked much cooler with the spoiler than without.

Otherwise for me it was always: "Spoilers? We don't need no steenking spoilers!". So I went into the G35C dream-to-reality creation process with my customary anti-spoiler mindset. But in truth, as I looked at them again and again, "in the flesh" and in pictures, damned if that little sucker didn't begin to grow on me.

So here's how I see the pro-spoiler side now:

-The rear of the car, spoiler aside, is quite massive, monolithic and slab-like.
---The spoiler covers the upper trunk edge and casts a shadow on the rear, breaking up the mass and making it look slightly less monolthic

-The body/roof ratio of the car is quite body-heavy, proportion-wise.
---The spoiler adds mass to the above-beltline "upper half" and extends the roofline, both of which serve to even out the visual "weight" imbalance.

On the anti-spoiler side:

-It looks a bit added on (I could say "tacked on" if I wanted to be unkind about it), and from certain angles, most particularly the rear-quarter view, more so.
-Spoilers in general connote a certain "Hot Wheels/Boy Racer" image which I don't personally feel is me.

So where I end up on the question is SLIGHTLY in favor of the spoiler, no more. I like what it does to the proportions of the car a lot, and am only a little uncomfortable with the twinge of adolescent chic it imparts. While I started out definitely not wanting it, I think now that if I were to do it all over again, given a choice, I'd order the car with the spoiler.

I have to agree with junglist19. The aftermarket spoilers give a cleaner, more refined look to the car. Does anyone know of a US distributor for Gialla or Impul?
