Problem parking

Alright I have a later model '03 6MT. My problem is whenever I park on hill, my car always seems to roll with the e-brake up. I'm just curious is anyone in here have that kind of problem. I have to really pull that e-brake just to make it stop. The other question is if you were parking uphill to you guys put it into first gear? Thanks

Your parking brake maybe out of adjustment? I always park my cars in 1st gear with the parking brake pulled up regardless of the grade.

Stupid question but you put it into first gear AFTER turning off the car and then pulling up the e-brake, right?

dont quote me on this but i dont think it matters. I like to pull up the e-brake first, then put it in 1st, so the car doesnt rest on the transmission. Id rather have the e-brake holding the car, and the 1st gear as a backup safety.

as for doing it with the car on or off, im not sure, i do it with it on before i get out.

Ya I turn off the car then pull the e-brake but my car seems to want to roll downhill. It really doesn't matter if its on or off. I dunno maybe I need to take it into the dealer to check the e-brake. I got this car used so I dunno the history behind this car.

Your e-brake needs adjusting or you may need new brake pads. I also leave the car in gear when parking, but it's a fail safe. You certainly shouldn't have to rely on your tranny to keep your car from rolling down a hill.

It's simple. Get the e brake adjusted. There is a drum type brake mechanism that works as the e brake. The cable can be adjusted or the shoes/drum cleaned.
Always park the car in gear- either first or reverse. I always park the car in the gear that I'm going to be heading when I leave.
