05 AT engine sound at 2000 RPM
05 AT engine sound (Knocking) at 2000 RPM
Hi Guys,
Need a little help with this one...
Would you say your engine sound (from the cabin) is really smooth on acceleration at 2000rpm? any gear...
I don't know if I'm hearing things but I could swear i hear engine knocking at low rpm...
But...I'm not sure if this is normal...during the summer time I drove with the windows down etc and heard more muffler sound than anything, sounds sweet, but now with all the windows up I could swear I hear a less than happy engine.
And I always use 92 octane fuel...never had anything less in the vehicle...
I guess it could be a bad tank of gas, but any comments on your engine sound?

Mind you I read this in the owners manual:
"However, now and then you may notice
light spark knock for a short time while
accelerating or driving up hills. This is no
cause for concern, because you get the
greatest fuel benefit when there is light
spark knock for a short time under heavy
engine load."
What a load.

If it is engine knock, It may be a bad tank of fuel, in which case it should pass.
Another possibility is that it's the timing chain making a rattling noise. No biggie as this will make more noise as the engine breaks in.
