The GTO represents all that american cars seem too... Shove a V8 in it and it will sell, who cares if it looks like a ~30k cavy, we never did any work designing it, and people will never know. Whoo hoo. A) the interior looks like a pontiac, with red seats... watch out, never seen color toned seats before. B) the car is just ugly, I'm sorry, I've seen some "tastefully" done GTO's and I still can't get past the bland styling. C) The "exhaust idea" makes the car look like it has an A-hole. D) If theres really no swaying you from another shrimp on the barbie, look into the Vauxhaul CCR (might be wrong on initials). In Europe theres is still the base LS1 GTO and the "upgraded" LS2 GTO. The LS2 version in Europe is by far the easiest on the eyes, but its still not exactly eye candy. Cant bash the motor, but I wouldn't buy a car on motor alone, so I'll keep my G.

How much are thr new Ford Shelby GT 500's anyway?

stick with the G yo. Screw a pontiac, they suck and for someone how does not really know their cars can tell the diff between a sunfire and a GTO

If the GTO was a somewhat good looking car, I would have considered it.

Its just too bland, and while I do like it.. the fact that the interior comes in bright red and blue leather just says something about the class of the car. You would never see Infiniti put red leather in a car.. I think that is the most tasteless thing in the world, but thats just me.

Performance, yes.. the GTO will blow the doors off the G35 in a straight line. Handling is a different story. The GTO handles like a boat. Interior and Exterior styling arent even close.

But if thats all your looking for, and dont mind sacrificing everything else I think the GTO would be a great move.

The Shelby is $40-42K, but I suspect the dealers may tack on a little extra.

Dude I say go for the GTO. Don't get me wrong, the G35 is an awesome car, and since I have never actually driven a GTO I don't know if it really handles as crappy as everyone says it does. But you know what? I do all of my driving on the street and public roads, so who cares if the car handles like crap. I figure if I am driving to the limits of the car, I shouldn't be driving like that on a public road anyways putting myself and other people in danger.

Buy the car that will put a smile on your face everytime you put the pedal to the floor. Who cares if other people think it looks boring, obviously you like it enough to give up your G for it, so there must be a lot of appeal in it to you. And besides, a "poor handling" car just makes you learn to be a better driver.

Oh...and in my opinion, the GTO is a great car.

Well, I like the gauges I suppose...

I can understand if you want to get the car for performance (hp wise)...but IMHO the interior is crap.

I know vortech makes a kit for it that pushes the HP over 550HP.
Any thought? Am I crazy?

What you'll find is that there's no car that's universally admired by all. I thought I hit the pinnacle when I bought a 993TT but there were some who criticized the looks of my car or said that I overpaid for it or that it had a rough ride etc. So buy the car that you like and if others like it, that's great, otherwise TS.
