The problem is the service rep wants to get your business, so if their dealer doesn't carry syn they won't get to service your car. The dealer here in Lisle, IL will be please to give you a syn oil change for $80. Its good for the car. When to change the oil? You can pay for syn every 3k miles, but it truely is a waste of your money. Instead put a good M1 oil filter in and let it go for 4-5k miles. Why? For one syn oil never breaks down like regular oil does. Even if you left it for a year, its still able to lubricate. However, it does get dirty, but you can get past that by getting a better filter.

Dealers are a bunch of jerk offs, don't ever listen to them or let them do any non-essential service for you.

You can't forget the all-important detail of what the dealer has on-hand. I went by the local Nissan dealership (no local Infiniti) to ask about an oil change. This dealer is part of a combo. lot where Ford is the biggest dealership under that roof (two different building, actually). When I asked the Service Advisor if he had any idea who makes the Nissan oil filters, he replied that they use Motorcraft since they get such a good deal on it whith all the Fords they work on. Imagine that, Motorcraft on your new Nissan. ><

ALL the loaner cars at GUNN Infiniti in San Antonio are full of Mobil 1. The last one I drove had 1780 miles and it had a oil change sticker with M1 on it.

Nuff said...

If you are going to change the oil yourself from now on I recommend getting the Fumoto Oil Drain Valve.

maybe if you use dyno oil, you will change it every 3k miles. so that means more money for the dealership. I have a 01 nissan maxima. i use mobile 1 in it. and i change the oil every 5k to 7k miles. no problems. the car has well over 80k on it.

mobile 1, royal purple, or motul. all are great!

when you say dirty. do you mean dark or do you see particles floating in it? i know mobile 1 is dark to begin with.

if you really want to investigat, cut open you oil filter or buy some screens for your oil filter. they will let youknow what is going through your engine.
