I would check around but expect to pay around $500 +/-. One word of caution, I work at a dealership bodyshop and see quite a few vehicle come in with transport damage. If you are going to use a shipping carrier do some research on the company first. I could tell you some horror stories from some of my customers. Good luck.

i had a car transport from southern cal to Chicago and it was like $850. It was for an open air trailer but if you don't want to take chances on rock chip, then I would suggest an enclosed trailer transport. But the downside of that is that its pretty expensive.

Just drive it. 800miles is nothing. 10 hours

I drove 2 cars from LA to Chicago by myself. i bought a oneway ticket
from OHare to LAX to go pickup my 2nd car. no biggie. the
trip is a tad over 2200miles one way.

btw, use some painters tape or masking tape on the frontal surfaces
if you plan on driving it (side mirrors, front bumper, front portion of
hood, grill (don't cover up the vent), etc.

Ouch, 2200 miles! I have about 4900 miles and I had my car since July with some nice trips in between. If you have to do open-bed transport, maybe get a car cover for it. That should limit rock chips etc.

Ok, the last customer I had with a horror story was this:

A guy buys a Lexus LS400 over the internet from Florida sight unseen except for pictures. The dealership completes the sale and puts the car on a carrier bound for RI. So far not a big deal right?

OK, somewhere in between FL and NJ the first carrier (who by the way is a reputable tranporting carrier) in effect subleted the the work to a less than reputable carrier. The 2nd carrier was operating with plates and insurance that was stolen from a company based in TX (this company by the way had no idea that this carrier was operating using their tags and insurance) The
2nd carrier is transporting thru NJ when a van slams into the carrier rear totaling the Lexus.

Still with me? Good, now the person who was driving the van was not the owner. In fact the owner/insured of the van was no where to be found. Now the car was towed into our collision center and begins accruing storage charges. The new owner's insurance company comes out and looks at the car and deems it a total loss. The insurance company claims that as the car was in NJ when the accident occured and that the carrier or the driver that hit the car are liable not them.

His insurance co won't pay for the claim, he has no idea who insures the vehicle that hit his Lexus and the carrier who was transporting the car was using stolen insurance documents. He had to pay the storage charges himself and drive his rolling total home to his house. By the way the loan had already gone thru so he is paying for that rolling total.

Damm... I have my G taken this coming Monday. My wife got a job with Microsoft and we are moving to WA. Microsoft is organizing and paying for the whole thing, I hope it means they get a lot of business from Microsoft so its important for them not to screw up.
Hope it makes it there fine

I would make sure you take some good pix right before you ship it. That will help you a lot if you do notice anything after they deliver it.

I was quoted around $600 when I was looking at shipping from NC to Chicago. I would just drive it, but I'm overseas and needed it done before I get home. Thats why I will never lease, you are limited on your mileage, mods, etc.

I got my G to drive, not transport. If it's a financial/lease issue, do the math (excess lease mileage cost for 800 miles vs. hauling and the incumbent risk). Unless your mileage penalty is more than $1.00/mile, it seems that driving is better.
