Trip is going great!

Spent the night just north of New Orleans last night. We're in Longview TX tonight.

I'll take a pic of the trunk. The backseat is the funny part.

Good luck on the trip, Russ. Remember all that food, drinks and condiments from the Deleon Springs BBQ? I fit all that on my G with Neffster's help so a few baggages and knap sacks shouldn't be too much of a problem for the G. Have a safe drive, man. I mailed out your diecast model car, btw. Can I crash at your place when I visit Hawaii? j/k

Arrived in Childress, Texas today. They have a Wal Mart that closes at 10, enough said.

I think I might be the first G35 to ever spend the night here. At least that's how it seems with the looks and questions I've been getting.

California is getting closer and closer! If my G only knew what I had in store for her there.

Hi. Enjoy reading about your trip across country. Some time ago we drove nearly the same trip. Jacksonville to San Diego, CA. No kids back then but the car was an MG Midget. Love the Grand Canyon! Have a fun trip!

Welcome to New Mexico, too bad you couldn't stay longer.

Go north at Gallup, through Window Rock and Hopi land, for a most scenic drive to the Grand Canyon.

A Midget? Wow. That's cramped.

I wish I would've stayed in Gallup. Seems like a pretty big city. I believe we're taking that route today. Thanks!

Be safe Russ. Don't worry about missing your car for a month or so while it's being shipped to HI. You'll have it back soon.

Also, how many times have you been pulled over so far?

Don't jinx me Neff!!!!!!

I have not been pulled over a single time. I've been cruising at 3k, about 84mph. My V1 has served me well.

Anyone with a radar detector knows that it won't protect you by itself though. You have to know when to speed. If the roads are empty, you should not speed. You need a little bit of traffic so you can pick up the signal when he shoots at another vehicle in front of you.

Good advice, meat, especially here in NM. I generally just want to be the 2nd or 3rd fastest car on the highway.

This is true.

Did the Hoover Dam thing, now we're in Vegas.

My latest dilemma is this:

a) let some knucklehead valet park my car

b) park my car in the parking garage for 2 nights

It's in the garage right now but I'm not thrilled about the level of security.

Meatshackle,

thats some trip you've made so far....I did my own cross-country trip in my G35 back in august..wasn't as bad as I thought it would be....from atlanta to san francisco with a friend.....wound up driving 3300 miles because I made all sorts of detours. My longest stretch in the coupe was 16-17 hours if I recall, from aspen to san francisco. i found my valentine 1 to be quite useful during that trip.

anyway, glad you're enjoying the road trip!
