Hey guys, have a pretty specific technical question. I am trying to calculate the drag of the G. I know that the car's coefficient of drag is 0.28 (0.29 without aero), but I need to find the frontal area of the car. Drag = (Coefficient of Drag) x (Frontal Area). Anyone know?

Re: G35C frontal area?
What does bump mean anyway?

To answer the question, the easiest way to calculate the front area of the G is to take a picture of the car from the front. It's essential to take it head on and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the car. If you take the picture at an angle, it can give you a misleading cross sectional area.

Using a print of the car, overaly it with a tracing (vellum) paper and draw the outline of the car. Measure a section of the actual car so you know the exact length. Transfer that section over to your tracing, that will be used as a scale. From here just draw equal sized squares on the tracing. Using the amount of squares plus your scale, you can get a cross sectional area for the car.

Another option is to use a planimeter (drafting tool) on the photo to give you the cross sectional area of the car. You will still need a scale for the photo to convert the area of the photo to an actual area of your car.

Bumping is what people say when they're trying to push their thread to the top of the active list and keep it fresh.

"It's been 2 months and 4 days since the last bump, I thought it was time for another"... sounds like the perfect beginning to an AA speech...

So, who's going to do the work to give us the answer?

Re: G35C frontal area?
If you can get me a pic, I can get a hold of a planimeter. Also, I'll need you to tape off (measure) a portion of the car so I can get a scale associated with the pic. It's probably better to get the pic a bit further from the car so I don't get a weird perspective messing up the pic.

Why not measure mine you ask.....it's a long story and I am off to haggle for a new one in the next day or two, so I do not have a car to reference off of right now.
