Jacking points on the coupe

I found a good place to buy floor jack and jack stand pads

http://www.protechproducts.net/images/JACKPADS.asp

Question is that there are only 4 jacking points. Where and how do I place a jackstand on the side when I'm jacking the vehicle up since there's only one jacking point on the front and another in the rear? I don't want to rely on the floor jack when I'm under the car.

Re: Jacking points on the coupe

i use a long piece of wood (at least 3/4" thick) to lay on the jack.

I use a piece about 2 ft long. then i locate it under the longitudinal body rail and jack it up. this way you can jack up two wheels at the same time and then place your jackstand wherever you want. I prefer to place my jackstands under the suspension arms on the front and rear suspension, as I have made some minor damage using jackstands on my designated jacking points

Re: Jacking points on the coupe

wouldn't placing the wood on the rails damage the plastic painted piece?

I think this is a good question, and detailed professional instructions would help greatly. There was a post that explained step-by-step how to change your oil, and I think we need something similar for "jacking your G".

Done. I'll post the jack points on FAQs.

I don't think I trust the suspension arms for a jack stand point. I still don't understand how I can get a floor jack and place the jack stand on the designated jack points on the car.

Re: Jacking points on the coupe

do you really need those jack stand adapters?
I used it once with out the adapters... where do I buy or make them?

I haven't jacked the G up yet from the front... but supposedly from the Manual it says theirs a middle jack point for the front. Is it really impossible to reach?

I have one of those huge 3ton hydrojack. And do you need an adapter for the hydrojack?

Need to know how to properly and safely jack it up.... going to need to do an oil change soon.

Re: Jacking points on the coupe

Without the adapter, the floor jack will crush the metal rail. eastwoodcompany.com sells this one. Works great on the G35 and my wife's TL.

Re: Jacking points on the coupe

The saddle I have pictured on FAQs replaces any stock saddle with a 1 3/16" shaft. It features a 4 3/4" square rubber pad with slots for the body sill rail, and because it's rubber, isn't hard on the paint and metal (I hate that cunching sound), and spreads the load quite nicely. I got it at Princess Auto for those of you Canucks near a store, and I think they can be had on-line at www.princessauto.com for $8.99 CND! Not sure if they ship to the States however.

Ok, so far no one has answered this question "I still don't understand how I can get a floor jack and place the jack stand on the designated jack points on the car."

Re: Jacking points on the coupe

In your case you have to use the floor jack to jack up the front 2 or back using the floor jack points(garage jack point) in this thread in FAQ.

Re: Jacking points on the coupe

there is another unpainted rail further in . getting a floor jack to that front jack point is a bitch, make sure you run up the front wheels on a two by four or something to get it up a few inches first.
