Closing in on purchase, last words please

I've been dealing with an Infiniti dealer(s) for 1 week now and I'm closing in on deal with them for a pre-owned G35 Coupe. Here's the specs.

2004 Black G35 Coupe
25K miles
Leather, Sport package, 18" rims (i think)

The biggest downside is no navigation and no spoiler. Here are some questions:

I need navigation and I'm sick of aftermarket one that falls off my windshield and has wires hanging out for the sattelite and power. Aftermarket in-dash GPS system is what I'm considering, I have searched and saw information about the pioneer d1 for indash navigation.. I know this will take a kit to install but I don't want to deal with that, I just want to go somewhere for example Circuit City and tell them hey, I want indash dvd player can you install it for me. I don't want to purchase or bring any of my own stuff and just have them do it.. is this possible? An estimate for this would be great

Most importantly, I'm obviously going to need snow tires. I want to use the stock rims for snow tires and purchase aftermarket rims for sumer. Can I use the 18" stock rims with snow tires.. even if I use the best snow tires they have and take it easy. I know I read alot of you not recommending using the stock 18's... but they are not great condition so I really could care less about them. Also about VDC.. is this something I should keep on at all times.. when should I turn this off?.. When going in a straight line or getting out of a snow ditch?

Thanks for your time.

1) Circuit city cannot install anything for you without the Double Din Dash you must order special. Plus, I wouldn't take my car anywhere except a reputable audio shop. Besides, what's the big deal? You order the part, then you just take it to where it's gotta get installed...don't make a big thing out of it cuz it's not.

2) Search the forum for more info on Snow tires, search function can be found under forums at the top left.

3) VDC must be off when you're trying to get out of a ditch or if you're racing and you wan't to get a power launch. VDC is good to have on because it will save you from skidding out and crashing....again do a search on the forum for mroe info.

Got more questions? Search, what you're asking has been asked a million times on here.

I can comment on running snows on OEM 18" wheels. I'm using Dunlop Sport M3's 225/50/18 on all fours.. so far so good. VDC must be left on at all times, except for when you want to have some fun and/or stuck and need to rev over 2,500rpm.

Congrats on the purchase. I'll provide some feedback on the snows, since you'll be replacing your stocks w/ summer tires in the spring. 18's aren't ideal (in the case of buying a new set of wheels & tires), but in your case, it may not be a big deal....as you won't be needing your stock rims any more. I think you're only two main drawbacks that would existing on buying 18" snows is 1) 18's cost more than 16's or 17's and 2) an 18" rim has a better tendency to dent/bend or getting a flat when hitting a pothole (not sure if you get these where you live...but I do up here in MA).

Hope that helps.

Sorry if I mislead the above information.. I didn't actually purchase the G35 yet.. but I'm almost about to.. meaning within 24 hours.. closing in on a deal..

Hey.. I live in MA too.. yah the potholes are rough here.. also I'm trying to say the G35 I'm about to purchase has the stock 18" rims.. they little scratched up on the rims.. personally I hate looking at that.. that's why I'm asking about 18" stock rims used with snow tires.. then aftermarket rims for the summer. Sounds like I'm hearing its ok for now.

Thanks for the congrats, I will be one happy person to be driving a G35 but as of now I have not made by final decision. MA sucks.. I hate being here, beside the fact I like the people in Boston, Job, and family in the state. Snow sucks and so does tax and insurance. I don't understand why places like Geico or Progressive cannot offer insurance in this state but 49 other states in the country. I just got quoted insurance for this car and it's going to cost me 4,000 a year...

Ok.. MikeyMike.. thanks for answers.. double din dash kit.. thats all I need.. sounds good, I'll search for it on google to see if I can buy it.

I didn't notice before I posted you mentioned you used these on all fours?.. why not the staggered set up.. wouldn't you think this would work out better? plus adding some weight in the back.

$4K/year....WHAT!? What step driver are you? I'm 29 yrs. old, a step 9 and my insurance is only $2,100 for my wife and I TOTAL on 2 autos...my '04 G sedan and her '03 Highlander. I think my car alone is $1,200/year...and that's w/ some pretty high coverage too! We use Commerce insurance. Good luck w/ your decision!

Yes but do you live near Boston? I lived in Framingham, Ma for about four years and by far most most noetworthy accomplishment while living up there was not having an accident.

good luck with the car but if you want to just get a set of 17s w/ nitto winter tires that would be a good choice.
