want to see my winter setup?

So I got my Blizzak WS-50 with 17" alloys today in the mail, I wasted no time and had them installed, especially knowing tommorrows forcast is a snow storm. Time to take out my G for the first time in snow.

They are very nice tires and I really don't hear much noise from them, Also I didn't get no light so far although I only drove down the street. I didn't choose to spend extra $400 for sensors.

I will be doing a long highway cruise tonight about 40 miles, probably be stuck in traffic and I'll see if I get the light. I do have a couple of question for you guys who put snow tires on the car..

^

Did you guys notice these 2 bolts after you took off the front wheels, I couldn't fit the tires into the front because of them and I called tire rack because I was pissed off, but they told me that its not needed so I took them off and tires fit like a glove.

They told me it's just some assembly line pin or something, I needed to put these on so I took it off, just wanted to make sure it was alright... they don't seem to do anything anyway and very easy to screw off.

Also since I did buy this car used, it looks like I need new brakes very soon... I think they may last about 5k more miles. Car had 25k on it when I bought it, 30k for brembo's seem right from previous experience with brembo's.

How much do they run for?.. I want to keep stock pads and rotors but I know they are going to be costly.

Looks good. That pin is to prevent you from putting OEM rear tires on the front.

<<Also I didn't get no light so far although >>

I did a 300 mile round trip in my G yesterday and I was 100 miles into the trip when the light came on. The same thing happened on the return trip. Never heard any audible alarm though.

Let us know how your first drive through snow with the Blizzaks goes.

Were supposed to get 4 to 6 inches in NJ tonight!

$40 bucks to take that off?
they took like 2 seconds. with 12 mm wrench.

I ordered the same exact tires from tirerack. I paid $25 to have the local shop installed the wheels.

Boston is not too far away!! I'll know how it is tommorrow.

yah... you got ripped off, $40 dollars wow... that is BS.. don't take that again from your stealership. The bolts take a second to take off.. I just wasn't sure it was some safety feature or something.

those bolts are to help you remove the rotors when you need to change them.

You remove the spacer and screw it all the way in pushing the rusted rotor off the hub.

I have the same setup but with Dunlop M3's. Come on guys, the reason we're buying a dedicated winter set is so we can do the install ourselves and not pay the money to have tires mounted and re-mounted to our stock set (and to not ruin our wheels with salt)...ok, maybe that's just me. And those bolts are as someone earlier said, to make sure you don't mistake rear wheels for front...not to take rotors off...I don't even understand what you mean by that .

It's like changing any other tire on any other car.. just this is the first one I ran into with the 2 bolts in front.. Thanks all anyway.. glad to know what the hell it was.. seems like I don't even need them.

How can you mistake the front and back?.. read the labels on the tire and you can see the back is slightly bigger/wider or whatever it is.. just a higher number!
