Hey guys, well I just had a chance to hear a G coupe with the new Borla exhuat. Driving into the city I met Mike, an owner of a Black G35 as well, who just last week picked up his Borla exhaust. He started up his G and to be quite honest, at first I thought he was BS'ing me becouse I hear NO diference in sound at start up. I had to even look under the car to make sure he actually had the system, and sure enough, the cheap *** borla tin can exhaust was there. After a few revs, a faint growl became noticable, but nothing to make you saw WOW! The ONLY time I was able to even tell he had something other than stock was after he drove off (showing off a little) and got the revs to above 5 grand. That's when it sounded a little more "higher noted", but once again I was not impressed at all.

The system also looks like it was put together at your local Meineke exhaust shop with borring non-polihsed piping and can. Plainly put, for $750 it just doesn't look and sound worth it! As for the HP gains, what do they claim 8 ponies?

I would rather invest $700 into a JET ECU upgrade and get twice the ponies and then slap on a B&B exhaust system. It may not be a dual system, but the system is nicer looking being fully polsihed, sounds like a true performance exhaust low and mean with just enough growl to make peoples head turn, and they claim to give ya more ponies than the Borla.

All in all, my 1st impression of the Borla system was not what I had expected! I'm glad I didn't jump on the band wagon and get one through that group buy.

Borla USE TO make really sweet systems, but they've been slacking off. I remember when Borla systems came polished, and lived up to there name in both performance, quality and sound. Now they can put together a $100 system, stamp there name on it, and wa-la everyone believes its a high-end performance system. Don't fall into the hype! I hate to rank on Borla, but they've become another "Name built" business. Its a shame to see Borla taking that route...

Thanks for your opinion, I'll give you mine when it gets here. Everyone has been saying the Borla needs to be broken in. He should give it about 500 miles before the true sound comes through. I will wait till then before making any judgments, but thanks for the depressing thread.

I prefer stealth, so the "look at me" factor does not interest me. I also do not want a loud or droning exhuast. My interest is the performance increase. With that said, I'm awaiting the dyno shootout results and more opinions from people who have installed them on their cars--not from a mere bystander listening to the sound.

Only this that scares me about ingen is their track record so far with the Coupe. 17whp is enticing though, how much is that system going for?

it retails for $989 but i-m racing is selling it for $799. It is only out for the 350z as of now but within the next 2months it will be ready for the coupe

[img]/w3timages/icons/tongue.gif[/img] Seriously, to each his own I can't REALLY comment about any of the exhaust from a personal level as I have never seen them up close.........BUT, just by going on internet pictures I have to say I'm not feelin the look of the Stillen exhaust, B&B looks cool but I wasn't impressed with a sound clip I heard as it sounded very raspy, didn't like the looks of the Greddy exhaust....soooooo I guess I'll just have to ait and see.....worse case scenario is that I could always sell it locally if I don't like it....price was too good.
Oh, and it was a real/true exhaust as opposed to the poser B&B.

HKS Exhaust For the Coupe is in the Works. It should be out Real soon. I'm Waiting for That one to come out. I absolutely Love the HKS on My Dad's G-35 Sedan. Looks and Sounds 1st Class.

A test was done by nissanperformancemag on the B&B exhaust for the 350Z. Total gain in HP was like 4RWHP max on the dyno. Here is the link B&B Exhaust Dyno

Well, you can't go wrong with the stillen exhaust. If you heard and drove a G with it you would completely understand! Just simply bad @ss!
