G35 = Skyline?

Yes, i did a search....searching for skyline on here brings up loads of results and none of the ones I read explained how a G35 is a skyline. I've been on this board for over a month now as well, and never seen it explained.

The skylines I've seen look nothing like a G35...what am I missing?

I thought that:
A) skylines looked nothing like G35s
B) skylines were fast

I assume we've basically got the entry level crappy model of the skyline (no AWD, no turbo), with all different body panels?

you must not have done a thorough search....

the R32/33/34/35? skyline w/ the inline rb26dett (twin turbo) motor is a COMPLETELY different car. the g35 is a skyline 350GT, which is totally a different platform from the R series GTR's w/ twin turbos and AWD. Although they share the same 'skyline' name, that is ALL they share. This is NOT another case of Toyota Altezza=Lexus IS 300...NOBODY i know has badged their G35 as an Skyline GTR..but ppl do badge the car as a Skyline 350GT. 2 different cars...just happen to share the same name...'skyline'

US Infiniti G35 = JDM Nissan Skyline 350GT

The Skylines you're more used to seeing = JDM Nissan Skyline GT-R

Info on the new GT-R has been released. Search for it and you'll find a lot of info.

Edit - Took too long posting I guess. What the guy above said. He's more thorough. =)

Do a Google search for Nissan Skyline 350GT & look at the brochures.

In Japan....our G35 Coupe is the 350GT Skyline....low end on the performance scale ....but a Skyline none the less.

Nissan released it first in Japan, then started the US model production as their higher end brand Infiniti.

The only Skyline most people think about is the GTR series.

Dang....by the time I finished typing this....there were already 2 responses saying the same thing....sorry.

let me add, since there is no infiniti outside of the US (for NOW at least), they named the car an Infiniti G35...however in Japan and prob. everywhere else the car is a Nissan Skyline 350GT. however there is speculation (maybe fact now) that INFINITI will be seeing european/foreign shores this coming spring??? or maybe in 07 just in time for the release of the GTR... which leads me to believe it will be released as an Infiniti

Excellent guys, I had no idea there were 2 very different lines of skylines. I'm indeed used to seeing the GT-Rs.

Makes a lot more sense now.

I've come to realize people have a hard time grasping the whole JDM thing. people have asked me the samething after seeing my JDM badges "Why does this say Skyline, this isn't a Skyline" and after you explain that in Japan there is no Infiniti, no Acura, no Lexus, they still don't get. I am not at all refering to Jmx's question, but some people it just goes right over their head. One of my friends I think I explained it like three times and then when I switched the emblems over he still asked "why'd you do that?". And you know what the worst part was he has an Acura that he bought, that came with the Honda emblems and he never understood it until I used it as an example today.

They already sell the same vehicles that Lexus and Infiniti do, they just have different names and they are under the Toyota and Nissan lines.

Its so funny to see people at meets and shows go to the back of my car and laugh when they see SKyline 350GT. People just dont understand that Skyline is a breed of Nissan. there is a whole series of different kinds of Skylines, but of course most people assume that the Skyline R34 GT-R is the only Skyline ever made hehe.

Remember that the Previous models of skyline also had their "low end versions" too.

The GTR is the top dog but there are GT's (N/A cars with RWD) and GT-T, RWD with a single turbo. GTS and tons of other variations. SPEC - V etc.
