When on the streets . . . If I have in mind to be conservative, I shift at 3k or just below. If I feel just a bit bored, I shift from 4k to 5k. If I am in a hurry, I shift around 6.5k. On the Freeways . . . Well, it just all depends . . .

Our cars are gass guzzelers!! with that in mind most of the time i shift around 3k rpms..... after a while you dont even have to look at the rpms you could give a good estimation where your rpms are at just from the vibrations in the stick. Spirited driving, anything goes (all the way up to redline)!!!

I don't think the G35 does bad on a gas at all, infact it even uses less gas then my previous 4 cylinder cars..

I usually shift at 3rpm always, during snowy weather I take it down to 2.5-3k but I feather it up there.

If I'm racing it will be redline and don't do it on the regular open roads.

it depends whose next to me... if it's another g.... i'll shift around 4K and see what he'll do..... and his action will dictate my shiftines...... if it's a cop.... i'll shift around 2K because i don't want him to hear my exhaust with my HF, my aem, my pleneum.....and stillen.... gets a little loud once i hit 2800K..

What!!! unless you're driving the 4 Banger so called Mits. Evo VIII there's now way your G use less Gas.. i usull shift around 4K all the time, spirited around 6.. i'm used to shifting on High RPM (Honda/Acura) bad habit i learned... i guess you cant teach old dogs new tricks...

To do what?
Slow cruising with Traffic (just to keep up) - 1800-2000
Regular driving 2000-2600
A little more fun from 2200-3500
Real fun from 3000-4000
Big rush at 6800

Too many variables man, anyone that answers that quiestion with one range is just wrong.

It's all relative.

Wow Real Fun 3k - 4K... That's how my wife is shifting when she's drivin my G.. I guess she's having fun then... J/K, can't resist it.

Likewise
Fun for me is 4k - 5.5k..
Real Fun 5.5K - 7K, Basically RPM never dips down lower than 4k.

I can't really have fun until I hear WOT, it's like riding a roller coaster i need that rush to feel the fun. else it's no different that driving my brother's Civic.

Cool, but there is no use turning the VQ that fast, it makes enough torque to not do all those RPM's and I can easily get more than 27MPG shifting under 2K on my weekly commute; now weekends and cruising at night are quite different and I shift wherever I dang well please...

If you are turning it fast for nothing, you are just wearing it out faster and burning more gas.
