bought a radar detector mount

from Mike over at my350z
its really nice looking, installed easily, and now my V1 hangs directly from the mirror so I don't have to deal with the suction cups unsticking all the time. for $30, it was worth every penny.

that hardwire kit is 13 bucks and looks easy as pie to install. I just ordered it today, so i probably won't have pics for at least a week with the holiday madness.

I should be getting mine from Mike tomorrow in the mail. Already hardwired my detector, but I'm using some RAM mounts to hold it to the rearview. Mike's mount should be simpler. Used some phone line i had lying around the house, biggest problem was soldering to the phone cord wires.

yeah, i'm not going to even attempt a solder. the only thing i've ever managed to do with a soldering iron is burn myself when hot plastic melted onto my flesh

Then get yourself the invisicord (www.invisicord.com) or the direct wire or direct wire with remote from escort. Should be pretty easy to hard wire with either of these products.

Thank you for all your interest, I have gotten several inquires from this thread. I have a tentative answer as to which two wires in the mirror need to be tapped for this, but am awaiting confirmation, thus the reason I do not yet have the G35 listed in the installation guide. Once we know for certain, the directions will be added!

The tentative answer I have is:

black is ground, black with pink stripe is +12v

Hey Sparky, dartmouth01,
I already have a V1 from my last car and want to hard wire it using the invisicord. My main isue is where to mount it. Does mounting it uner the rear view mirror obstruct your view out the window much? In the pictures it looks a little odd sticking out like that. How far below the rearview mirror does the top of the radar detector actually start. I am thinking of buying this mount but I jsut can't get a real good feal for how it would look from some of the pictures.
