used G35C 6MT
Hello All,
I have negotiated a deal for a 2003 G35C 6MT Premium, Aero, Trunk, Mud guards, with 4098 miles for $33,000.00.
Does this sound like a good deal? I am concerned with purchasing a vehicle that will be last year's model in less than one month. An identically optioned vehicle can be had for 35,615 to 36,355.00 brand new. Do you think it is worth it to pull the trigger on a low mileage coupe that amounts to a savings of $2,615.00 to $3,355.00 over a brand new coupe?
Also, FYI to all, I am seeing a willingness on the part of some dealers to discount the G35C 6MT in the St. Louis area.
Lastly, has anyone gotten financing through Farm Bureau Bank?

You will be hard pressed to find it for less than MSRP.
I would jump on it...most believe the price increase for 2004 will be between $1k and $2k, offsetting the amount of expected depreication. Plus, you don't have to wait and is already broken in!

Re: used G35C 6MT
Actually, I am aware of at least two dealerships in the Midwest that will discount $1,000.00 off MSRP for G35C 6MTs. Of course, the price would then be either $34,615.00 or 35,355.00. Still more than $33,000, but is that small amount of "savings" worth it? Also, doesn't it make sense that the prices of all 2003s are about to go down, given the fact the 2004s will be arriving in September?

Re: used G35C 6MT
If you can get an "in-stock" brand new 6MT for $1000 off MSRP in the exact specification you desire, I envy your market area, and you should go for it. The fact that those dealers will have any 03's when the 04's hit the lot is quite amazing, they must get huge allocations. Most people need to order to secure a 6MT with what they want, or they luck out with someone who backs out.

Re: used G35C 6MT
Honestly, I don't know how big their allocations are. I simply took note of the inventory online, and then inquired about the specific vehicle, citing the VIN. I was then told that the vehicle would be arriving on X date or that the vehicle was in stock and ready for purchase.
So you think I should bag the used car and buy the new one? I am inclined to wait and see if I can get a 2003 after the 2004s have arrived. Obviously I run the risk of missing the boat entirely, however, conventional logic suggests that there will be leftover 2003s after the 2004s arrive and that should drive the price down on the 2003s. I guess, I am not confident that $33,000 is a fair price for a G35C 6MT with 4,000 miles on it.

I agree with Mcleo; hard to believe there're any 6mt coupes off list price. But if there are, jump on it even if it is an '03. Granted, in a perfect world, you lose more than 2-3K on model changeover, but this isn't a perfect world right now.
If it were me, while you say they're selling them for less, I really wonder what happens when you sit in front of the salesperson. It's one thing to say, yes, we've got it in inventory, or it's coming in. It's another thing when you get there and they say, oh, that one was ordered by someone, or, oh, that one was just sold (legitimately, too).
When you're ready to buy, really buy as in write a check, sit down in front of someone at the dealership and see where the numbers go. That's the only time you'll really know if they're telling the truth unless you want to play the gsm-signed fax game (I've done that one before) and never go in until you're signing the final papers.
And, yes, the longer you wait, the (much) more likely it is that any '03 leftovers will be gone. Even with about 20K plus coupes manufactured vs. the original projection of 12K in the first year, the numbers are miniscule and there is quite a demand for the cars despite any perceived "issues" with the car.
Good luck and tell us where it finally wound up!

It's all about the amount of risk you want to take. The two major variables will be the actual price increase of the 04 model, and the availability of 03 models once the 04's hit the lot. If the increase is substantial, the 03's will not drop by much, but will probably be snatched up quickly since they are essentially the same car.
If the price increase is minimal or non-existant, then any available 03's should drop, but to be honest, the only available 03's I can imagine being left are those that are fully loaded in the least desirable colors.
Another major variable is the time you have. If you are in no rush, and you miss out on the 03, then you can try and negotiate an 04 in the winter when demand tapers a bit.
If it were me, and that used g35 is exactly what you want, I would still jump on it. If your time frame is short, that is a very fair price to pay for a nearly new, broken in vehicle.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Re: used G35C 6MT
thats also like saying when 05's come out the 03's are going to be worth 5 to 10 grand less ..dependant on mileage.
Plainly and simply, your not going to get that much off a highly sellable and desired car, considering the price increse of the 04's, which theoretically would either maintain or minimally depreciate the 03's.
This car will not nose dive like others on the market.
If your not confident in the price of a 03, buy a 04. Simple.
But someone, somewhere will buy the 03 because it is cheaper and the same car except for a model year, with no real relative difference and 4 k is nothing. The car is brand new practically.
Don't bet on the 04 depreciating the 03's that much considering the car is practically new and the price increase for the 04s
in other words ... if you wanna save the money .. buy the 03 and get some mods and you ahead of the stock 04 for more money which in time will have 4k on it too.
up to you man

Re: used G35C 6MT
If your going to spend $33,000.....drop the extra $2,000 or $2,500 and get the one that has been in your control from day one, right from the lot. This will give you peace of mind. I would hate to think that you bought a 6MT after some guy who beat the crap out of it for the first 4,000 mi like I did to mine.
And all you have to do is send some e-mails to dealers around your area (through Infiniti's website) and you will find the coupe that you want, in stock, and probably be able to talk their internet-sales guy down $500-1000. I did. Just be willing to drive a couple hundred miles to pick it up.
Good luck

If you are really serious, I have a black/black, loaded except for Navi for sale in South Carolina. I am willing to take $31,000 for it. It has about 5800 miles on it. The only thing done to it is that the windows are tinted, debadged, and I just installed Sirius Satelite radio. Let me know if you are interested. My number is 803-494-9714 and my name is Josh.

Re: used G35C 6MT
I got a great deal buying on ebay. Bought mine back in April with less than 300 miles when I received it. 6mt coupe aero, premium, nav, all-weather mats = MSRP $37600. Winning bid $35000+$700 shipping. Total savings $1900 off MSRP for a car with less than 300 miles.
There seem to be a decent selection on Ebay these days. Back when I got my coupe there was no more than 1 or 2 listed simultaneously.
