The G lives up to its reputation
Of rust bucket!!!
Today weather was nice enough for me to wash and wax the car. While I was dry it off, I noticed the edge of my trunk is all rusted up. WTF? It's a '04 with the manufacture date 5/04. I purchased the car brand spanking new in 2/05 for my own B-day present, so in essence the damn thing has only been on the road less than a year. It has 8k on the clock.
The car is always garage kept, and always hand dry when I washed it. How the fock can it rust out this soon?
For those who are too young to remember, Japanese cars were always considered rust bucket in the early years. Guess they still are. My '87 MB E-Class has no rust whatsoever. And the G is already rusting. Time to junk the damn thing and go back to German. This really pisses me off. I swear I will never have another Japanese job. And they are considering selling a GT-R for $70K? Nissan must be out of their focking mind.
Wait till the dealer sees the car next week, I am going to hang someone by their nuts.
Thanks for letting me rant.

Sorry to hear about your rust.
This is precisely why I don't drive my G in the winter. Salt does a number on any metal vehicle.
Do you regularly wax your vehicle? I'm not pointing fingers... just asking.
If you have a picture, I'd love to see where the rust is coming from, because certain veicles are prone to rust in particular areas. Under the spoiler tends to be a common place for water to pool up and rust away without the owner even knowing that it was happening(hidden by the spoiler itself).
Also.. if your car is an 04, it is covered by a rust warranty, so long as the rust didn't come from damage that was incurred by a rock hitting your car and chipping away the paint or something of that nature. I'd try to get Infiniti to fix it under the pretense of that warranty... there's a decent chance that they will if there is no evidence of impact damage from debris, etc being the root source of the rust.

no need to get too sensitive about the whole "***-xxxx" thing... it doesn't help anyone.
As for the rust, I'd take it to the dealership, as I'm almost positive that there is a corrosion/paint warranty. If they won't/can't take care of it, then lemon law it and don't lose more than a few dimes, and get yourself an M3.
btw, gook-jobs pwn you (insert smiley face here)

all makes have problems.... none are invincible to them..... your car might be a few exception to the rust... mine doesn't have any and mine is an 04. let's not just stereotype this.... if you prefer german then the next best thing is to get one next time... for now, go to dealer, it's covered, so don't get mad, things do happen, but at least you're covered... and ultimately, that's what matters...

Shame you've got some rust on your G. You don't say where or how much but I doubt you will need to "junk it" just yet. Contact the dealer and have an inspection done on the rusted areas. If they are not caused by perforation from something like a stone chip the manufacurer will warranty it and either replace or repair the area in question.
After that it might be an idea to sell your G if you still believe they are an inferior product to German manufactured cars.

I feel your pain but agree with those who say you should be careful about offending others. I'm black but I was also offended by the "***" term. You're probably a cool guy....when things are going your way. Just be a little more careful. People always say minorities are so sensitive but no one likes racially toned comments used to refer to their particular ethnic group.

WTF? So if he's not japanese, he can't use the racial slur, but if he's is japanese he can throw around the racial slur?
Are racial slurs now only appropriate if you're using a slur that reflects your own ethnicity like the N-word?

I don't know about the whole rust bucket thing applying to Japanese cars but all I know is that my 1996 Infiniti I30t with 140k miles on it didn't have any rust and I have driven it mostly in the snowbelt area of Ohio when I use to work for a client in that area. So the car definitely gets its share of snow and salt...the only thing rusting is the underbody of the car where I can't reach, other than that, the car gets washed anytime I have salt on it during winter (plus I'm **** because the car is black and I hate how it looks with salt). Even at that time I didn't even have a garage to put it in since my house was in the process of being built. But maybe when I applied 3 layers of wax before winter may have helped? Well, the G is definitely sitting in the garage through winter...it's nice to have a beater to drive around
