G Owners who got the lo-jack option from Infiniti

I purchased the lo-jack option... I don't know, I've never had my car stolen before knock on woods but shouldn't I be receiving a chirp or some type beeping noise with the lo-jack.. I know what it is but I was also figuring it would change something in my remote.

Also are they suppose to show you where the lo-jack is located in the car?

Nopes....lo-jack will not disclose any information regarding the placement of their device. They usually put the device at the same location on every car. Therefore if you knew where it was, you would be able to jack someone elses ryde and deactivate their lo-jack. They didn't show me but I saw them install it. haha

lol.. so you have it though, do you get any type of chirp or beep from your remote?.. I have the normal keyless entry remote with the trunk pop thing that I actually found really useful.

I don't get no chirp or beeping noise only a soft honk when I lock it and no sound when I unlock..

Unfortunately our factory keyless entry remote does have anything tied in with lo-jack. But you could purchase an upgrade which will notify you of any moves on your vehicle via alarm, phone, email, etc. $395. Man that's expensive.

Believe me, your car does have lo-jack. My 00' accord got impounded last yr and I didn't know about it so I had the police activate my lo-jack. They found it in 4 mins.

Ya I guess it's not worth it for the nice chirp I could get.. I'm fine with the lo-jack for my cars sake but a nice sounding alarm would be needed when I start putting in sound systems and such.

Ohh well.. thanks for all the info anyway!

I heard that they put the Lo-Jack somewhere behind the glove compartment, around the area where the passenger's feet would be. I haven't had time to look there yet on my car but if someone has the time, check it out and let me know.

FYI LoJack only works if a police car has a receiver installed in it. If a police car is parked next to a LoJack equipped vehicle but the police car does not have the system installed the officer would not be aware of the stolen vehicle. With On-Star or other satellite based systems an operator calls police dispatch and tells them where the vehicle's exact location is.

Actually they dont put it in the same location in every car. For every different car they have at least 3-5 different places to hide the unit. The guy that did my dads truck let us watch where he installed it and told us a few of the places that they use.

I have had lojack installed in all 3 of my cars and my dad has had it installed in his past 2 trucks. i think it is definately a worthwhile "peace of mind" investment. not to mention the insurance company gives you a little break for having one installed

im actually going to get LoJack installed within the next 2 months.

How much did you guys get it for? I've gotten quotes from the cheapest(simple LoJack) $695 and the most expensive(comes with alot of goodies and $5K warranty if not found in 30 days)$1,199.

I'd get the basic lojack, which is just the transmitter. I believe I got it for around $700 as well. Like I said, when I reported my car stolen, the police located it within 4 mins of my call. Most police helicopters are equipped with the lojack receiver. I think the rest of the fancy junk is just a way for them to make money off you.

I paid $700 from the dealer to have LoJack installed. It calls and e-mails me within minutes when my car has been moved without my keys near it.

Got my lojack installed for $500 at time of purchase (bought used).

The point is to be hidden, so no special chirping or anything.
