Bluetooth problem with '06 G35?

I have a 2006 G35C with premium package that comes with the built-in bluetooth device. I'm currently using a Nokia 6682 (Cingular) and I've loaded all my contacts in. When I'm making calls the bluetooth would always drop/loose connection with my cell phone when the other party answers their phone. The call doesn't actually drop - it's only the bluetooth connection that drops, and I have to use the cell phone to continue my call.

Anyone else having this problem? I know if I take it to the dealer they're going to tell me that it's probably my phone that's not compatible.

Where are you resting your cell phone? The G35's receiver should be strong enough to pick up the signal anywhere in the car. Before taking it to the dealer, borrow a buddy's cell with bluetooth to test it out.

Every now and then my Sony S710a will drop connection from the car, and then reconnect.
Has never happened while talking however, b/c of the wonderful placement of the speaker I don't use it very much

The Nokia 6682 has had that bluetooth problem with other cars, not just infiniti. I know over at the TL boards where I initially helped out with their tech section, there were some issues unresolved.

First thing to do on the 6682...hit *#0000# and it'll bring up a firmware version number. If its anything like 3.0.1 you're out of luck. A newer version was just released last week so you might even want to call the guys at XBM and tell them your bluetooth keeps on dropping the signal and unpairing and what not and they will send you another one.

I have never had a problem with mine. I have a V3 Razr though. Bluetooth works outside the car as well (around 6 feet). Maybe it's your phone?

Motorola and Sony Ericsson phones work exceptionally well with bluetooth car kits. Now, depending on which one you get, if its a non series60 device, then chances are you'll have good luck too. Anything like the 9300, 6682, 6620, N90, etc etc will most likely have problems.

The firmware on the phone indicates V3.01.1 06-18-05 RM-58. I just bought the phone last week from letstalk.com.

The phone is not on Infiniti's recommended list, so if I take it to the dealer they'll just tell me it's not on their recommended list that's why it's not compatible.

I place my phone in the cup holder or sometimes in the box where the nav would have been if I had nav so the signal should be plenty strong.

I also have a Moto Razr that I'll have to try out to see if I get the same problem as the Nokia. I know the Razr is definitely on Infiniti's recommended list of compatible phones.

The good news is that the 6682 works with Lexus and BMW a lot better than Acura's handsfree link (blame JCI for that one). In any case, if you return the phone to letstalk.com, your replacement should have v4.62 firmware and that fixes quite a bit. Look into it, I would recommend it. Like I said, series 60 phones work kind of crazy with OEM bluetooth handsfree link systems...and especially the 6682/6630/N90 etc...its a little tricky.

Sounds like a firmware update is in order. I have a N6230i and it works perfectly with the bluetooth. Also bluetooth has a range of about 30ft, so the placement shouldnt be an issue. I am sure others have done this too, but to overcome the lack of caller id display on the radio, I have different ringtones for my most frequently called numbers, this way I know who is calling most of the time without taking the phone out of the cupholder. Also if you adjust the volume in-call, the system retains that volume in memory separate from the volume you were listening your music at.

The 6230 is a series 40 phone. Naturally it works with any manufacturer's handsfree link. Series 60 and any other PDA phones with larger screens will have problems. I think its more of a liability thing so that is why they disable something in the handsfree profile.

On PPC devices, you just have to make sure the bluetooth stack is Microsoft and not Broadcom
