Differences between 04 and 05 coupes (What I discovered)

I purchased my 05 G 6-speed coupe in May 2005 and have so far put about 10k miles on the car. Yesterday I got a chance to drive my friends 2004 which to my surprise felt like a different car. Here is what I discovered other than the slight cosmetic changes which we all know of:

2004

280hp
270 Torque

Gearing is much different
The car shifts at 58mph in 2nd gear (I think that this is why we have recieved poor 0-60 times in the magazines. I have not seen one test on a 2005 coupe which shifts at 62mph).
Brembo brakes feel amazing even after being used for 30 minutes.
More initial power upon initial acceleration but feels dead compared to the 2005 G35 in the 5500-7k rpms.
More fun to rev the engine

2005

298 hp
260 Torque

I sware the 2005 feels faster, shifts better but... the brakes suck! The 2005 OEM brakes do not compare to the Brembos!
Interior buttons/electronics are much easier to use in the 2005 G's!

You make a good point about the 58MPH shifting point. One of the reasons that the C6 Z06 has such an extraordinary 0-60 time is becasue no shift is required to reach 60.

Why don't you think the brakes on the '05 compare to the Brembos?

The tach may be off more on the 04 than the 05 . Thus you shift sooner in the 04 . My 03 tach is off by 400 to 500rpm up top . On a dyno , or my data logger . When my tach reads around 7200 to 7300rpm the dyno and logger read 6800rpm

iirc the gearing is the same. it feels different because you have a higher redline. ive only driven the 05 sedan and i dont think the brakes are a problem for everyday driving compared to my coupe. theyre quieter for sure, and during normal driving, stop just as well. of course i much prefer the brembos for feel. i would imagine they fair significantly better over time in terms of fade, but never drove the 05 hard enough. i personally feel this was the only step back infiniti took with the 05/06, but i understand why they did it. brembos are not cheap and they are not quiet and luxury like.

If you have aftermarket wheels that don't match the stockers' size then the speedo is going to be off.

To me, '05 brakes look "beefier" than the Brembo's
