XM Radio Anyone?

anyone else install XM or Sirius yet? I got mine from Grubbs and installed about a month ago. Love it. A little disappointed that the display doesn't scroll to show the whole artist/title. Poor design in that regard but the install was a snap. And I saved almost $400 compared to what the dealer wanted to charge me. Not to mention that I installed the antenna on the rear cargo shelf not on the roof and avoided that ugly hump.

If you are only getting a few channels, you need to subscribe. When activating your XM or Sirrus, your radio has to be on for at least 30 mins.

If you are subscribed and had all the channels disappears, then you have to get your radio refreshed. I hate when I have to refresh my radio, cause the hold time on the phone is brutal.

Re: XM Radio Anyone?

did you activate it? you have to do so either online or via the phone. once activated be sure to have you car in a place with good reception and leave the Sat radio on for 10-60 minutes. took about 15 min for mine to be activated. you'll know its been activated when you get all 101 channels. did the dealer give you a promotion code? If not use OEM001NNA. this should be good for free activation and 2 months of service. good luck,
jb

Bad thing abou the code though is that it has to be used on the phone, and the wait time is absurd.

Re: XM Radio Anyone?

Jedi,

I just emailed the install pdf to you. Hope you got it OK.

I screwed on the included brackets on both sides of the tuner and I ended up securing the left side of the XM tuner in my trunk by using the velcro to the left side trunk interior wall and using the cable ties to secure the right side bracket to the bose amp frame. It seems to hold very well when I inspected it after about 2 weeks of driving around.

Re: XM Radio Anyone?

Very helpful thanks MD! Helped me to get an over all understanding of where the unit was supposed to go. I modified the antenna install through the trunk lid and, very clean install. Took me about an hour once I knew what I was doing. Definitely recommend people do i thtemselves.

Re: XM Radio Anyone?

Dr Jim,

I was wondering if you could possibly bump the PDF info my way? I am very interested in XM, but I don't want to interrupt the integrity of my interior with a XM tuner, and I don't want to change my Bose tuner. If your tuner is in your trunk, you are obviously operating it "blind" via remote control? I had XM installed on my wife's Accord, but I don't care for that particular application. If you could, I would appreciate any ideas on tuner "locations" for XM. Thanks!
