Hi everyone! it's my first time posting yet i have visited this forum almost every single day ever since i've got my car. it's been a great help learning more bout my car through this forum and it also made me regret gettin an auto 05 coupe.
my question is, are we able to use snow chains on our cars? i am going to mammoth this wednesday to snowboard but i don't want drive my boring hyundai sonata all the way up there. so i really want to drive my G up there but will the use of snow chains be fine with all the snow on the road? is it even possible to put them on? i have never used snow chains so i am asking this. thank you for the help. oh and i wouldve never posted this unless i found the answer by searching the forum. but i did not find anything about the use of snow chains on our coupes. thank you once again.

 

Yes, you can use tire chains on the rear tires of your coupe. However, I would strongly advise against it . . . Since you have never installed a pair of chains. The coupe's rear wheel well clearance is limited to begin with and if installed improperly . . . You can potentially create quite a bit of damage to your rims, whell wells, paint, etc.

Most states don't allow you to use chains on cars.

Check your local laws before even considering it... but even if it is legal, I would not get them.

Chains breaking or not properly installed will do a hell of a lot of damage to your car.

 

If you've ever driven in the mountains of Colorado or Montana, they suggest chains.

However, I thought Mammoth was right at the point on the highway where they ask you to put chains on? Regardless, I'd go with winter setup before even trying chains...or drive the Hyundai. I'd use chains on a truck...and that's about it.

 

They plow the roads, and even if you get caught in a snow storm, you will not require chains.

Been driving for 20 years in snow in the mountains, and not once have I ever seen chains.

As mentioned, get a winter setup if you don't have all seasons. If you do, just use em.
