Something funny I found on a mustang gt forum.

Before mods I could only do 140mph in my G. Now that I have lots of mods I can do 170mph but I didn't add a turbo or NAWS.
Sweet huh?

Don't knock the stangs, just knock the loyal fans who refuse to open their eyes to all the other great cars out there.
Owned a 97' Cobra convertable and I loved the car but sold it last summer. Of course, the 25k in aftermarket toys brought the rwhp to 560 and torque to 532 (reliable hp since the engine was completely rebuilt for the power) so there was a huge investment in performance.
However... I enjoy driving my G in some ways as much as I did my Cobra. No comparison in power, but still a fun car. What I do enjoy is the quality in the car. Good sound, no creeks, solid feel. I did not replace the Cobra with the G, but actually replace my SVT Contour with the G. This summer, I'd like to replace the Cobra with an M3 Convertable or perhaps the new Cobra if is is released as a convertable.

hilarious
That was hilarious. There's the most ridiculously overweight r3dneck out in Duvall, WA with a 6 cylinder powder blue '05 mustang. He works full time at the local True Value Hardware store being a worthless employee. I'm assuming it's a 6 cyl because it doesn't have the GT lights in the grill and looks like the base model. It's supercharged or turboed from the way it sounds and it does get up and scoot for a cheap hunk of sheetmetal.
He loves to roast his tires around town and will bite on any race offered. I was driving my girlfriend in her '00 VW beetle 1.8T (because I'm confident in my manhood
) and this guy pulls up next to us. I decide to give it a go and see how he stacks up to my gal's bubble car and can hear the whine of his motor (maybe it's from NOS-who knows). Anyway we both punch it and he barely starts pulling on me after 50 mph.
He started doing more burnouts in front of me and I just wanted to cry for him. I couldn't stop laughing. Just imagine if he rolls up on my G.
Mustang owners, they are usually a special breed aren't they?

Hey...
At least they didn't talk smack about the G35 on the first page(that I saw). The guy lost to a G35, and then went on the site asking for help in how to make his car faster. IMO, that's no skin off his nose and shows that he's many pegs better of a person(at least in Internet Persona) than the jerks from the GTO forum that were "Raggin"
on our cars just because we have a maxi pad included in our emergency medical kit.
I didn't read the entire thread, just the first 10 or so posts.. so I can't vouch for the entire thread being a non-G35 bashing one.

Personally that guy that race with me - was ignoring me and he look at me and laugh. At the end he was Humiliated because " He obviously have no idea what other cars are capable of".
its no the money - its all about the hearth - If got a car that does 10 second and 180mph but you are afraid to go to the limits - " YOU ARE NOTHING"
"The ignorance Dares"
I don't think anyone "doubts" what mustangs are capable of...because it's true, you can bolt on aftermarket parts on a honda civic and make it a 10 second car. It's just that parts for domestic cars are usually easier to install, and ALOT cheaper to acquire...Plus they have the edge of starting off with a bigger engine. I personally hate domestic cars because they're manufactured poorly....hence, the much lower price tag and resale value in comparison to their japanese counterparts with relatively similar engine sizes.
Most mustang drivers DO fit the stereotype tho....they slap an ugly borla exhaust on their gt, and they think they're the ****. Ford Mustangs and Chevy Camero's play a BIG role in "America's" motoring culture....but like it or not, its usually your typical red-neck that celebrate it to embarrassing degrees. But I'm sure if honda civics (assuming we were all ricers once, I was) came with 4.6l engines, we'd be the same way.
I see Mustangs and Camero's and I automatically think of sagging doors. :P but that's just me.

You guys have to take all this internet stuff with a grain of salt....the average 'internet' Mustang owner is probably a bit younger than our average age here.
As the owner of a '05 G35 Coupe 5A and a modded '94 Mustang Cobra, I'm fairly objective here. The average '99-'04 260HP 5-speed Mustang GT should run pretty close to G35 Coupe, driver depending. The G35 has more HP, but the Mustang has more torque.
The older Mustang GTs, including the 5.0s, don't have the HP to hang with the 280hp G35.
The '93-95 pushrod 5.0 Cobras are pretty underrated at 235 and 240hp. Actual HP is around 260ish, with 300ft lbs. Should be about equal to a '99-04GT performance.
The '96-'98 32v 305HP Cobras run high 13s at 100-102mph, so they're pretty quick.
Keep in mind that many Mustangs get modded quite extensively, and bang for the buck mods are quite bit cheaper than for our Gs.
For example, my Cobra has aftermarket heads/cam/intake/exhaust/gears as well as a complete aftermarket road race style suspension. It's putting out approx. 340fwhp (dyno'd at 289rwhp, 300 ft lbs). It's significantly quicker *and* faster than my automatic G35. It's more open track car than street car, although it's CA smog legal and can be driven pretty much anywhere.
Which car do I drive everyday? the G35 of course, they're no comparison with regard to comfort, ride quality, and ammenities. The Mustang is a great bang for the buck pony car/muscle car, but it's really not in the same league as the G35. Although my Cobra handles as well or better than the G35, the average Mustang GT doesn't handle nearly as well as the G35.
So in summary, don't sweat it....
