so what about the mach1's and other spcials that ford makes? would it be a drivers race for those also?
The Mach1 has the same 32valve 4.6 V-8 as the '96-'98 Cobra, so it's making 305hp. Runs mid to high 13s at 100-102mph. Can be auto or manual trans.

The '01 Bullitt Edition is only a tarted up 265hp GT, so it's not significantly faster than the '99-04 GTs.

I am sorry there is whole bunch of misinformation in this thread. Being a mustang owner till a month ago ( 98 GT, NX, Prochamber, 40 series flows, gears, intake; she was my first car and Ill always love stangs ) I had to post a reply. I now have new 06 G35 coupe thats less than a month old. The stang and the g35 both have their pros and cons, and I am not going to get into that debate. But FIRST OFF, there is no such thing as a "Infiniti G35 Skyline". No its not a dealer option either. There is a INFINITI G35 for US market ( the word "SKYLINE" is not once ever used in the US ) Then there is the NISSAN SKYLINE 350 GT in Japan which is the same exact car as the Infiniti G35 with the v6 NA engine. There is also the NISSAN SKYLINE GTR, which is the blue car pictured on page 3 which is totally different from the above mentioned two cars with the 2.6 twin turbo. If you see a car with skyline badging on it, its either one of two scenarios.

One: its a Infiniti G35 ( NOT INFINITI G35 SKYLINE, cuz they dont exist: So no, a Infiniti G35 Skyline is not a upgraded version of the Infiniti G35 as someone suggested ) rebadged as a skyline. You can buy the badges online for cheap. It has nothing to do with the dealer option. Sure you prolly have your dealer put them on there, but its not something offered from Infiniti per se. There is no difference in performance , unless you are a ricer and believe badges add HP.

Two: The car really is an imported SKYLINE GTR. Its expensive to do so but its been done.

An 02 5 speed GT should be neck and neck with a Infiniti G35 6 speed ( badged as skyline or not ) stock for stock with the same driver skill. They are both areound 14 sec in the 1/4, so it comes down to a drivers race. Stock for stock a Skyline GTR ( not the Infiniti G35 or Skyline 350GT ) will own a 02 stang. If HellsGT lost to his buddy its cuz either its a modded Infiniti G35, or its a stock Infiniti g35 and HellGT cant drive a manual as well, or his buddy has a Skyline GTR. Now hellGt claims that the blue car in that pic is the same as his buddy's and that is the twin turbo GTR. In which case its no surprise he lost. But the chances of him owning a real imported Skyline GTR is veryyyyy low, since theres not many of them running around here. So I think he lost to his buddy driving a Infiniti G35, maybe modded, with SKYLINE badges.
Then some guy still posts thisD
You shouldn't talk from your anus. There are special insurance companies for cars like that. There are like 13 of them here in Seattle. Daily driven. They have to be converted to close to U.S. customs' specs for them to even be unloaded of the freight.

The car that beat him is the new 2002+ G35 sport coupe "skyline". I don't know what makes a G35 sport coupe a skyline, but I have seen a couple myself. It may just be a special edition badging, but I have seen them stock on the showroom floor with a skyline badge on the back. Check out this site: http://history.jbskyline.net/index5.php#11thgen

I guess he does not understand the word "derivative"

Additionally, the Skyline finally made its long-awaited US debut for Nissan's luxury-brand Infiniti in spring 2002, where its derivative, the Infiniti G35, goes against the BMW 3-series and Lexus IS300 in the near-luxury class.

"To Infiniti and beyond" - I think you say that when you go for warranty claims in a "Modded G35" to the dealer - so if they dont respond, you go beyond , to your Lawyer. jaja

Personally that guy that race with me - was ignoring me and he look at me and laugh. At the end he was Humiliated because " He obviously have no idea what other cars are capable of".

its no the money - its all about the hearth - If got a car that does 10 second and 180mph but you are afraid to go to the limits - " YOU ARE NOTHING"

"The ignorance Dares"

Hmm I guess my signature is not showing up where it says I drive an 06 coupe.. But yes my previous car was a mustang. And I am not defending any of those ignorant people on that forum, but theres some pretty ignorant people on here too. Statements like mustangs are crap, low quality domestics prove my point. My stang in 8 years didnt give me a single problem, didnt rattle or buzz, no mechanical or electrical failures. A search will show how many guys here have lost a bose head unit, throttle body, stuck windows, rattles galore, feathering tires, brembo brake problems, clicking axles..need I go on? So much for Japanese reliability. All I am saying is making blanket statements that all other cars, esp domestics are junk is just ignorance. I bet none of you saying that a mustang is crap ever owned one. So what are you guys basing your judgement on? Every car has its pros and cons, and for bang for the buck the G35 cant even touch a stang. Likewise a stang cant come near the refinement, and quality of the G. And Oh btw kudos on your 15 yr street racing career, I am sure you are doing your bit to make the streets safer.

You're going to sit there and tell me you didn't have one buzz or rattle in your 8 year old rustang? C'mon. Now don't take this the wrong way (cuz I'll be blunt) but you're either deaf or have incredibly little attention to detail. Yes, every car has its problems. But to say that Japanese car reliability is on par with Ford's is a fairly ridiculous statement. Fords are junk. My folks owned a couple of them throughout their lives because they didn't have the expendable income for another make.

Ford's, like all domestics, have their place just like imports. People like my folks needed them to be around to make it affordable enough to transport their rugrats around. But seriously, the line is drawn when it comes to Ford quality over others. I'll go as far as to say Ford is better than Renault.

If you read carefully I never said that fords quality was on par with Japanese models. I was just saying the much vaunted Japanese quality can also be non existant at times, so there is no truth to saying that domestics are crap and imports arent. Btw I am not deaf and or handicapped in any way, it wasnt your car so dont sit there and tell me how my car behaved. I am not saying every ford is built that way but mine certainly was good to me. I had a honda civic also during the same period, and that one had 3 dead battries, a bad 02 sensor, and a fried computer compared to no mechanical or electrical failure on my "rustang". Again I agree domestic quality is not near imports but saying "Fords are junk" is just crass generalization and a dumb comment.

The 03 and 04 Mach 1 actually had the DOHC out of the 99 and 01 Cobra, underrated at 320/317. Head to head the Mach is easily quicker and faster due to the cams and heads from the 03 Cobra. The Bullitt editions were rated at 275 due to the intake and pullies.

I have a Mustang. It has had its slight rattles that are easily addressed and corrected. I'm also in the market for a G35. They're completely different cars in different markets, comapring them head to head as far as bang for buck, reliability or comfort is apples to oranges. So lets not try to assume things we shouldn't, I've played the internet forum game long enough.

Nice one.

Honestly, my friend, high level analysis 'generalizations' really do have their place. As much as we like to believe they don't. With such data, one could easily assess the risk involved with buying one brand over another. Why would you do this? To give money toward a product with the greater chance of maintaining a minimum standard of reliability. With this comes safety for yourself and your family, etc... (such as the time I drove a Peugot 505 and the seatback collapsed while driving at freeway speeds). Now suppose no one cared and all bought the cheaper product (Ford). Why would there be a need for automakers to improve the way they're utilizing resources (to produce a better vehicle)? There wouldn't. This holds certain automakers accountable.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy domestics as well. I think Chrysler is putting out some great products and GM (back to accountability) is having to turn itself around (anyone else see that new Tahoe that looks like a land rover? HOT). So to say Ford is, from a 30,000 foot perspective, junk, is certainly far from being 'inaccurate'. Weren't their great superduty diesel motors actually developed by someone else? I used to want a Mustang GT when I was broke, but now I'm not. Again, they have their place.

Another thing I'm annoyed by (for my country) is that when my organization, among many, bring in offshore employment (Hindi), all these newly transplanted folks have one thing in common (aside from their background); they will only buy Honda, Toyota, or Nissan. Where did they get that from? Wasn't me, and I wish better for my domestic manufacturers.

Not trying to argue, because I think arguing online is mildy ret@rded, just hope to clarify a few of the blanket statements I'd made.
