Graduate financing and difference between Brill. Silver and Des. Platinum

Today "my car" arrived at the dealership from the port. I say "my car" because I haven't been approved for financing yet. Since I am a recent graduate, my sales guy says I'm automatically approved at the lowest rate, but that just sounds too good to be true... Does anyone know anything about Infiniti's graduate financing program?

Anyway, I went to take a look at the car. It's a desert platinum and it was parked right next to a brilliant silver. In the evening sun I almost could not tell the two colors appart! The silver had definate gold tones in it! I just found that very interesting and wondered if anyone else had noticed the same?

I got in on the grad financing thing and they got me something like 3.7% or something. Pretty good rate I guess.

Both are cool colors - DP really has a neat way of changing colors with different light.

I got 3.5 for 60 months through my Infiniti dealer. I told them I was approved for lower than the 3.9 offer they gave me at another bank so they came back with 3.5%.

I really don't want to say this but the DP is awesome. I actually have all the paper work done and my mind was set on a silver and waited 2 months for the arrival until after looking at a DP setting on a show platform at the dealership while waiting for them to prep my car after signing all the paperworks. I thought nobody can ever change my mind until you look at it closely. DP is silverish gold platium during sunlight and brilliant silver at night, then during clouding or raining days its diamond graphite. DP is amazing, that is why I changed my mind and went with it DP, now I wish Infiniti would discontinue this color so there will only be a limit amount of this color g-coupe out there. Sorry, I'm selfish.

P.S. DP is Bling,Bling. Looks like the color on the Lexus SC430. It looks "EXPENSIVE".

AGAIN, MY EMOTIONS GOT A HOLD OF ME. PEACE.

I had a deposit on both the DB and BS. (Long story short see my posting on Proud new owner) ....almost purchased the DP....but was lucky enough to get the BS. I love the color cause it is easy to clean cause and difficult to see swirls

The salesperson was talking about 4.59% financing for me... is this a good rate these days? How long has it been since you got 3.9% or 3.5%?

I was looking at 3 different coupes at my local dealership just the other day. They were Brilliant Silver, Diamond Graphite and Desert Platinum.

To me, the Desert Platinum just looked like a "dirty" Brilliant Silver. In other words, I prefered the Brilliant Silver to the others by a long shot. And that's funny because I always like the Diamond Graphite in pictures.

I got 4.5% through the dealer. I could have gotten better through a private bank. I have a clean credit record so far. However, everything was calling me to the car and 4.5% is not bad.

I got 9% ... planning on refinancing next year. I originally walked into the showroon looking for the DG coupe ... the salesperson says, "Why yes, I have one, have the leys in my pocket right now." I say, "Oh yeah, I comin down right now!" Get there ... no DG. The salesperson got confused with DP ... in the end, I love my DP. Looks classier and more mature than the DG, but sometimes still look back at the DG and wish ... hmmm. No regrets tho, very proud of my DP coupe!!!

wait a minute, the guy at the dealership said that I was apporved for the graduate, but my credit already made me a Tier I customer. With that he said the best he could do was %4.8, which according to him was better than Graduate Financing. I am going to refinance through a private bank also.

They said there was no penalty in paying everything off, so refinancing should be easy, right?

you could actaully change the financing interest rate? man, didnt know that. i was trying to get a lower rate than what they offered me when i went in onetime and they said they couldnt lower it b/c its based on my credit rating so i thought the rate is fixed.

Woohoo! I got approved for graduate financing with 4.59% financing. I guess that is a decent rate. I'll get the car on Monday! Time to change my signature!

Couldnt you get 3.9% APR from private banks like LendingTree or PeopleFirst since you already have tier 1 credit?

I am in the same shoes as you, I am a recent graduate and have tier 1 credit. I have not gotten the deal yet, but when I went in for FX35 (which has 1.9% special APR from Inifiti) the sales rep said graduate rate will be better.. but did not give me the exact number for graduate rate.. Was he trying to rip me off by lying?

Re: Graduate financing and difference between Brill. Silver and Des. Platinum

Hi:

I got 3.9% financing via Chase through Infiniti. At the time (Mid June 03) it was the best. Infiniti initially told me it would be about 4.2%

Here are some buying suggestions. If Infiniti is still insisting on selling at their MSRP, then haggle with them over any of the closing add-on's you want. In retrospect, I should have haggled with the guy (the closer) who did my paper work. I probably could have gotten the interest rate a tick lower and they overcharged me by $250 for the LoJack. I would becareful about buying the "gap" insurance if you put more than $8k down. It is probably a waste of money. Same to for the extended warranty.

Remember, car sales are very slow right now!!! In San Diego, they are advertising "special interest rates on selected models" while showing pics of the G35s and G35c. Most dealers including Toyota have saturated the market selling off their '03 stock. And it would be surprising if the G35 would be MT's "car of the year" in 04. So, with rising consumer interest rates, Infiniti should start to be more accommodating for their buyer's.

I bought the DP 6MT model. Silver is such a ubiquitous color that I did not want my G35c to be casually mistaken for a Honda or BMW. Plus, silver (for the 90's) seems to have run it's course, kind a like black (for the 80's) which has slowly died out as the preferred color. DG would have been a close call for me but I wanted a willow interior. Being mid way between black and silver, DG seems to be the most popular for G35's at present.
