infiniti/Nissan stories
infiniti/Nissan stories
I know many people who have had Hondas or Toyota for 200k miles with no problems... you know those people and their story. I hear alot of Nissan stories where things fall apart in the interior, like armrests or *****. Anyone have a Infiniti/nissan that lasted forever with no problems???

Re: infiniti/Nissan stories
My girlfriend has a '96 Maxima with 71k on it and (besides for her hitting curbs) hasn't had a single problem. She doesn't even perform standard maintainance on it. Still runs great.

Re: infiniti/Nissan stories
I'm hoping Nissans hold up better than Hondas.
My personal car stories.
--------------------------------------------
1991 Honda Civic Si: Biggest P.O.S., among the worst cars ever produced in my opinion. Nothing stayed together, terrible performance, and horrible overall build quality.
--------------------------------------------
1995 Toyota Camry: Went 150K on it without a single problem. No rattles, a totally solid car. Would have lasted forever, but I wanted something more sporty.
--------------------------------------------
2001 Acura CL type-S: New title holder for the worst car ever built. 3 Transmission failures, constantly warping rotors, interior rattling and falling apart, outrageous customer service and overall incompetance.
--------------------------------------------
Conclusions: Toyotas were by far the best Japanese cars I've driven. On the other hand, I'd put Honda all the way on the bottom with overall quality lower than domestics, and can say that I will NEVER touch another Honda product again; they are riding their "reliability" image a little too far in my opinion. I'm hoping that Nissans will hold up, otherwise I'm going to have to go back to Toyota or go German.

Re: infiniti/Nissan stories
Had a 1988 Pathfinder SE with 60k on it, had problems with the radiator exterior fins rotting, transmisson (auto) and the exhaust manifold studs breaking. Other than that it was a solid car. Had it from new for 8 years. Traded for a 4Runner. Toyotas are really solid cars, too bad they treat their customers like crap and some of the sales people will rip you a new one, but then again that's some sales people.

Re: infiniti/Nissan stories
I've had a 1991 Nissan 240SX for the past 6+ years. I had no mechanical problems until the master cylinder went out last month. Other than that it was just gas, oil, tires and brakes. The funny thing is, the day after I got the car fixed, the Infiniti dealer called and said my G35 coupe was in!
Another 240SX story
I had a drunk friend pull off the inside handhold on the passenger side. He looked at it and then handed it to me. Oh well.

Re: infiniti/Nissan stories
I have a 91 Sentra with 170k on it. It has never failed to start, broken down, or given me any other problems. I won't buy anything but an Infiniti/Nissan again.

I also have a friend who has a Maxima that's nearing 300,000km!!!!!!
I rode in it and it actually felt brand new. No squeeks, no rattles, couldn't even tell that the engine was on.
He sold me on Nissan.

'92 Nissan 240sx - 180K.
So far I had to replace the clutch, water pump, and fuel pump. I'm the third owner, so I don't know what else was done to the car, and right now I don't care. I'm looking forward to my G =).

Re: infiniti/Nissan stories
Old car was a '92 Sentra...bought used...now has over 260,000 km and still going strong...haven't done the oil change in around 10,000 km (I know I should've but I knew I was selling it and the new owner would do one even if I'd done one)

previous car was a hand-me-down 5 speed 92 sentra from my father
the car ran 202,537.4 miles on the original drivetrain (engine, transmission, etc) until the transmission blew 1/2 up the hill to my house

i had to replace the windshield a couple of times... the power windows eventually stopped working from all locations except the driver's control... the shift **** got so worn that the gear map (the 1,2,3,4,5 with the gates inscribed on the shift ****) was rubbed off.
but the radio still worked perfectly, and so did everything else on teh center dash console (clock, ac, heater, vents, etc)
