Road Trip to Big Sur (long)
Road Trip to Big Sur (long)
I recently went on a trip up to Big Sur CA. For those whose don't know where that is, it is about 5 hours north of LA up the US-101 and Highway 1 (PCH).
All I can say is that the G35 Coupe is worthy of the Gran Trouring accolade. Sitting in the drivers seat for 5 hours was not uncomfotable at all. The car is certainly designed for both the quick runs and the long drives in mind.
The freeway part of the trip (LA to San Luis Obispo) was easy and comfortable. Fuel economy was great (24-25 MPG). Acceleration in 6th at speed was effortless. I saw a DG Coupe on the way and played a friednly game of tag for about 50 miles. Nice guy; exchanged cordial "thumbs up" along our drive.
When I hit Route 1 (SLO to Big Sur), thats when the fun began. After some long flat stretches, PCH turns into what I can only call a drivers dream; 40 miles of sweeping corners and tight turns. On my way back to LA was when I had the most fun. There wa no traffic (Monday morning) so I was able to to take corners with a certain amount of gusto. The G was very tight, allowing for easy 40 MPH tight turns. There was little to no tire break away. I did keep the VDC on, as some of the corners are close to cliff faces ! One thing that was handy was the navigation. in some places along the drive, there were heavy amounts of fog, so it was good to have the nav to show me the corners that were coming up. The G performed almost flawlessly.
I am now over 4000 miles in 2 months. Just had my 3750 service. I had some warranty things fixed, especially the creaking sound from the rear passenger suspension that started after my road trip. I guess the corners really worked the suspension and a nut/bolt came a little loose.
Sorry for the long post, but I just had to share. I you live in CA and want to have a great weekend drive, take Route 1 to Big Sur. The scenery is beautiful, and the drive is awesome!!!

Re: Road Trip to Big Sur (long)
Route 1 from SLO to Big Sur and all the way up to SF is a real nice drive. We did that about 18 months ago coming back to the Bay area from LA. Unfortunately, I didn't have my G35 coupe yet...no one did. Even though our Acura MDX is an SUV, it handles pretty nicely for one and the nav was a great help. I'm looking forward to aking the coupe on that drive some day!

Re: Road Trip to Big Sur (long)
I just moved from SLO, and I know that all around the central coast there are a number of beautiful vista points. I am going to see if during my move to LA from SJ I can drive down PCH to experience it in the G...thanks for the idea!

OMG ITS ANOTHER BLACK G! I want to drive on that road . I am kind of regreting the fact that I didn't get the nav with my black G but I'll put my own in eventually in like 3 years.
