Borla Installed
Got my Borla TD system that I bought from Strictly Z installed today. Because of safety regs, I wasn't able to get the B4 and after pics I'd hoped to get, just this one back at home from ground level.
System is awesome; There's just enough rumble that you know it's there below 3k, and just enough bark above 3k to make some sweet music (all the way up to 6600).
It's not objectionable on the hwy at cruising speed. Altho you can hear it, it's not gonna cause any headaches.
The 'Poopers' are a little bigger than stock (4.5" as opposed to 4.0") and stick out just enough to expose the Borla name near the tips.
Installation went very well...( took only 1 hr.) and no hangups.
I made a couple of adjustment myself when I got home, but that's just me being a little fussy. Was easy to adjust.
Seat of the pants dyno says more power, so the 8 or so RWH is noticeable.
I polished up the muffler some more and it looks nice from the rear, with the big Borla name exposed. Some may think it's a little bling, bling but I like it nice an shiny, and shined up well with metal polish.
I hope to get some more pics at some point down the road so this one will have to suffice for now.
Still picking up the pieces after a 13 hr power outage last night, so things a little rushed this morning. (what a PITA).
Overall the system is great, and looks-wise lives up to it's high standards. A definite
The angle of this pic is bad and makes the tips look like they're off center--- they aren't.
Here's a few more of the install. The Pic above makes the tips look like they're not centered properly, so there's one pic below to show that they are

Re: Borla Installed
I am waiting for Yuichi's results as far as power output on the diferent brands, 8 hp, to the wheels sounds adequate for the Borla, and I would think we have the same tolerance for noise so also I trust you on the sound quality (LOL)
I live about 20 miles from StrictlyZ, and plan to attend their open house , maybe than I can find out the results from other people.

Re: Borla Installed
According to Yuichi, the Borla porduced more HP than the Stillen but less torque. All the numbers and other details were not released due to their pending publication in the online subscription of "forgot the name of it". :P

Kraft G35, The rumble is there but it's not objectionably loud. The stock pipes were a little quiet even for my old bones, but these are nice. You, (and so do others) know you've got something 'extra' under there.
Like I said, at cruising speed, it blends in so well, it's hardly noticeable.
For comparison, the DynoMax, and Flowmaster systems I put on my Mustangs were quite a bit louder. So this one is tame by comparison.---- Performance sounding but cool
Tbusguru: The power diff is noticeable as is the sound. I think compared to the others Yuichi tested, the Borla held it's end up. From what I remember of the sound clips, this one is one of the quieter ones, and definitely won't attract too much 'unwanted' attention.
Yuichi has a Borla TD on his Z. That's almost the same sound.
The Borla is easy to recognize with the signatured tips, and cross muffler. Nice system.
Mani: I'd love to be your hero bro, you know I'd do it if I could, but haven't got the facilities to record a clip, sorry. Someone else will have to do that. Rambo should have his installed soon. Maybe he won't mind for you guys (and gals).
Geezer, I think you'd be happy with this one, if you're in the market for an aftermarket exh. To me it's got it all: Looks, class, sweet sound, and a reasonable (and noticeable) performance gain.
There may be better ones, but not at this price.
My smile was like this when I first drove it:

I just got the call to expect my exhaust in teh mail any day now. When I get it installed, I'll be sure to post a sound clip! before and after so you can really hear the difference. until then...

GSM, I've heard some people say it seems to rev freer at high RPM...have you noticed this? Also some people say the exhaust sounds more exotic. If these two things are true alone, I'll probably buy it, the increase in power would just be gravy!

Re: Borla Installed
Congrats Colin! Except you spelled StrictlyZ one.
We recently installed one on roberts car, he had high flow cats and the borla exhaust. It should break in a little more and the sound should be different after you put some miles on it.
I like the borla, because I plan on adding headers and hi flow cats or test pipes, and that way it won't get too loud
Hey Colin that muffler isn't shiny enough!! Where is the mirror polish, hahah looks good man!

hey gsedanman
welcome to the borla club, looks and sounds sweet
let me know if you have any issues of excess heat in the center console, cup holdee, shifter etc. that might be coming from the new exhaust. i don't know if its my imagination but it feels hoter since the borla instal.

Yeh the system went on easy. A couple of the hangars could have been angled slightly better, but easily close enough.
The system is available at StrictlyZ for $747. Good price for such a sweet system.
The close up you asked about is the right tip from about 6" and shows the inside where it narrows from about 4.5" to about 2.25". No silencer or muffler at the ends.
