You can be the nicest person in the world...doing nothing to offend anyone....and you will still have damage to your car.
Dings, scratches, etc.....the G's seem to attract a-holes by the dozen. It sucks. I've had my Coupe since June and I already have two dings and numerous deep scratches.
Parking far away doesn't always help although that is the best solution. Whatever you do, do not park on two spaces. Some sickos will see this as a complete invitation to mess with your G.

 

I agree, taking up multiple spaces is just an invitation to get keyed. I saw a new 760Li that took the cake this week ... took up four spaces!!! (Parked in the intersection of 4 slots - 2 deep, 2 across.) What an ego that guy must've had.

I try to park far away also, but only in a single spot. Taking up multiple spaces is really pretty arrogant.

this crap happens to me almost everyday. i always pick my parking spots and park way out where there's no one around. and yet like clockwork, everytime i go back to my car, some fool parks right next to my car. forget that there are about 4 or 5 empty spots around my car. these people just have to park right next to my car. i totally understand when the lot is full, but i don't know what's up with these people!!!

It happend today and yesterday. Yesterday I went to Shop Rite to go food shopping and parked at least 50 spaces away from the last car. When I got back there were 2 cars next to me. WHAT IS THAT CRAP!? Today me and 2 other friends with G's went to TGI Fridays where I met a hot sailor "who never did call me back." We all parked in the last 3 spaces (we had 3 G's with us). We ate, came back, and there are people parked next to us. These people have to get lives and stop parking next to us!

gtorres44... it's like the G curse. i went to the mall today and parked pretty far out into the lot. sure enough, when i came out, my G gained several bunkmates... 2 bimmers, some porsche with its top rolled down, and an escalade with some mean looking bling bling spinny rims. now those neighbors i don't mind at all b/c i know they probably watch how they swing those doors open. I KNOW! I park in another zip code at the mall, yet some idiot parks right next to me and really close to, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

It happens to me quite often but it is usually other really nice cars. I think they do it because they know I will not ding their cars up while getting into mine.

 

You guys gotta remember that we have "G" magnates, it attracts the good, bad, and the ugly. I know it's hard to have something nice, and keep it that way, but when we're away form our G's, they're sitting targets. I try to find "end spots." And depending of which end I'm on, I'll pull in my spot at an 11 o'clock, or 1 o'clock angle. It seems to help for me.

Same story here guys, I do believe it's some kinda curse when you have a nice car. Since I have never had a nice car before this one I am a paranoid freak. My girlfriend yells at me when we go out cuz' I'll drive around the lot 6 times to find the best spot in no man's land or I refuse to let some 18 year old punk valet park my baby (after he does some donuts). **sigh**
One other thing that's funny, when I do park way out in the lot far way from everyone else it always seems to be some beater SUV that is right next to my car when I come out. I agree with sboden, they do it knowing that you won't ding their car. As to why they park next to you when the lot is empty, I think it's to make sure no other a$$hole parks next to them.

I have a different theory: I think they do it because they think that you think your car is too good to park next to the rest of them. Which, in fairness, is exactly what we're thinking. The difference is that they don't appreciate what it means to possess an exceptional automobile, and just think we're (slightly) wealthy people looking for one more way to be snobs and look down on others. I don't think they see any difference between owning a nice car and putting a solid gold mailbox at the end of your driveway. They think both are just for showing off. I agree with them about the mailbox, but they clearly don't understand the pleasures of a fine automobile, or they wouldn't drive the crap they do in the first place. Even if you don't have money, that's no excuse for wasting your earnings on a brand new Cavalier, especially with the used car market being so soft.
