G is 3 weeks old and have my first paint chip
After washing my baby this weekend, I discovered my first chip in the center of the hood. Must be from a rock or something but I just hate the only blemish.
What is the best way to fix so as it is not noticeable? Second, what can be done to prevent future chipping? Thanks in advance.

For fixing paint chips, see this thread: http://www.carcareonline.com/viewarticle.aspx?art=8
To prevent them, wax or polish your car often or you can get a clear bra. Paint chips will always happen given today technology in paint. Honda's have the same problem. I forgot what exactly it is, but it's the process of painting or the type of paint new car manufacturers use.

You can try and protect your paint with wax.. clear bra as I did but the bottom line is this "American Highways will always produce Chips!"

I've had my G for nearly 8 months and no chips. Do the people with chipping problems tend to live in drier climates?

I definitely think the paint chipping has to do with the location of the owner. I live in South East Fl and many of the Coupes I see parked have no chips on the front bumpers or hoods. What does this mean?
Re: G is 3 weeks old and have my first paint chip
No chips yet....7 months in, not a lot of milage. 3800 miles on the clock. I live in Southern California...I think my success rate so far is that I avoid our debrie infested freeways like the plague. Now Nevada is another story. Rocks fall out of the sky for no reason....and it's scary. I have actually witnessed windshields and hoods take whoppers with the car stopped and no other vehicles around.

Man that really sucks. I got a couple of chips, and then someone recommended I get a clear bra installed. You guys who are buying new G's should definitely get a clear Bra installed by this Guy. He did mine, and I cannot say enough good things about him. His work is flawless, and he travels all over the East Coast. I know for a fact that he has already done one of those new Ferrari Enzo's because when I went to pick up my car the Enzo was siting there in his driveway. Anyone doing work on a $500,000 dollar car must be good at what they do. Good luck to all you new G-Men, and Women.

Re: fog68...what exactly is a clear bra?NM
It is a film made by 3M that is applied to the front of your car to protect it from stones, bugs, etc. It is the exact same thing that is around the rear wheel wells of a G35 Coupe. Other than that, all I can say is I had this guy in Florida install it for me, and he did a phenomenal job. You might want to give him a shout. He does work all the way from NJ to FL. I guy I know in Miami who owns a 2003 Porsche 911 Turbo referred him to me, and I am glad I had him do the work on my G35.
