^+1 - - you can't tell me after having owned 5 sports cars (all 5 speeds) that I don't know how to drive a manual. I too have NEVER had to replace a clutch.

But this 2005 clutch is a different breed. It has a distinctive roughness to it when you engage it that I've never felt in any other car. A roughness that I can only describe as feeling like the clutch plate is out of round or has a high-spot on it that is distinctly communicated through the pedal. WHY?

Clutch Chatter

Attn: Infiniti

Fix the problem by issuing a service bulletin and fix the affected cars. Do your part to satisfy customers that spent about 37,000 on your product. This is rediculous.

This car by far has the damn LOUDEST tranny and clutch ive ever heard. Its the same way in my boys Z. The whole car is amazing, but Nissan just didnt too well in the tranny department. Ive learned to not even pay attention to the clutch chatter, and just drive my baby. I really hope the next generation G doesnt pick up these problems...

04 6MT

Just went to the dealer about this and apparently Infiniti is trying to put something together to fix it. They said that the 04-05 coupes are having problems with the forks rattling during take offs. Anyhow, I'm going back Thursday to talk to the manager and he promised to do what he can. Oh yea, this is my 7th car that was a manual, trust me, I know how to work a clutch. Anyhow, some dealers are attempting to fix the problem now, but hold on tight, Inifiniti "says" their doing something. Good luck guys.

whats up everybody, im new to the board. I just today got rid of my 2005 maxima se auto, for an 06 g35coupe 6mt, ivory pearl on frost, sport package, aero kit, and navi.

Lemme just start that i love the car to death, but within the first 25 min of driving the car after i left my store, i noticed this clutch rattle. I was going to say something tomorow thinking there actually was something wrong with it. I work for nissan of queens and we also own mellenium infiniti in manhasset long island, so if i hear anything on what to do about this, i will be sure to let everyone know.

Yes! Please let us know. My clutch is still ok at 21k miles but has always been loud and temperamental. Nice to know someone working at a dealership is looking into this.

There are numerous threads on this, and from reading some of the previous ones, the rattle you hear from underneath the car when idle, is normal. I too hear it when i'm next to a wall, and the rattle quiets down as soon as I press the clutch. Some people stated that performance clutches always rattle, and some people who had Corvettes confirmed rattling should not be a problem as long as the transmission works fine and it quiets down when you press the clutch. Don't panic people, our shifter also vibrates a lot more than any other car, and so is the shifting the jerkiest, but it all keeps working fine, so sometimes you just need to get used to it, and enjoy the raw feel of power. I mentioned all the above items to the dealer, so until it all works fine and he assures me everything is fine, I'm just gonna keep lovin it.

Same problem here. Ever since day 1 when i had 8 miles on the car until now when i have 11k. I've never asked infiniti but Ill definitely bring this up later this week for my oil change. Horrible tranny for a luxury/sport car. I hope they do a recall.
