Software Chip Availability
Hi all,
First post, good to be here. I'm in the middle of refinancing the house (already locked) and am pulling money out to hopefully get a red 6MT within the next few weeks.
I've owned alot of fast cars, including the current E39 BMW M5, but not even that car could corner like the G35.
BMW has an aftermarket company called "Dinan" , which does anything from exhausts, to software chip/upgrades, to super chargers.
Is there "one" company known for their quality workmanship on these cars, that has locations around the country? I'm looking for a shop that's local (Nor Cal - San Fran area) that can do an exhaust system, and ofcourse CAI and software tuning. Want to give an E46 a run for it's money, if it can be done...
Thanks

Re: Software Chip Availability
Well, you can go to Stillen (www.stillen.com) for the exhaust system, supercharger and CAI. Technosquare has software tuning (http://www.technosquareinc.com/350faq.htm) ATI-Procharger also has a supercharger (http://www.superchargersonline.com/p...ProductID=1664) Oh, and you have Injen for the exhaust and CAI also (http://www.injen.com/)

Re: Software Chip Availability
BMW has Dinan.... Infiniti / Nissan has NISMO (Nissan Motorsports)... You can get most upgrades through NISMO, which is specifically made, designed and tested for Nissan / Infiniti products.

Re: Software Chip Availability
Actually, I think Nismo goodies are all mainly rebadged products at this given point in time for any 350z or G coupe mods they have. JWT (Jim Wolf Technology) is a company to DINAN that produces tons of mods forour cars (maybe not currently but they are in the stages to release some nice stuff [especially for the Z so my guess is the coupe is not far behind]). In any case I gotta go right now but I'll try to add more later.....
Re: Software Chip Availability
its already all been said, although i would go for titanium exhaust, but unless you are talking about the e46 m3 the normal models should be no problem.

Re: Software Chip Availability
Howdy,
The E39 BMW M5 has alot of understeer - I define that as - "When you turn right (in particular) the front of the car seems to roll into the turn - it doesn't feel as balanced as it should." Although the car has a 50/50 weight ratio, it's a big 5-series car that's "tall" in comparison to the GCoupe.
My biggest complaint of the M5 was after owning it a month, the right side of the VANOS system went out - and I was basically driving around in a 4 cylinder car before I took it into service. Would have been $4k to fix if it hadn't been under warranty!

Re: Software Chip Availability
It's interesting to see all my fellow BMW owners coming over to the G Coupe. People on this board are always comparing our G coupes to BMW 330's, etc. Why? I never thought it was a valid comparison. I have had a BMW 540 and I feel the coupe handles better and is about as fast. Now we have an M5 owner driving a coupe and stating the handling of the coupe is better than the M5! No BMW driver would try to compare a 330 to a 540 or M5. So it's time we stop comparing the G to a 330, the G is a way better performer; closer to an M3, yes. That would be a valid comparison (in performance, not $!!).
Re: Software Chip Availability
I spoke with Technu (whatever they are called - in LA) and they said they get roughly 12 more HP to the crank, or 8HP to the wheels with their programmed ECU.
They also said they don't recommend a stillen CAI, or "some"exhausts, as he specifically said they've seen the car lose power.
Does anybody have a specific ECU, exhaust and CAI and had it dyno'ed to ensure they didn't lose power? "Butt-o-meter" is fully acceptable too...
