I got a 5AT so keep that in mind if you can help me out.

Anyhow, here's my problem. I have a Valentine 1 and I had the plug into the passenger side power outlet. Anyhow, I unplugged it and the metal contact and the fuse fell out and into the hole of the outlet. I honestly didn't even know there was a hole there. Anyhow, my dilemma is that I want to get those two parts back, but I don't know how to do it. I know I could just order replacement parts or whatever, but I'm planning on returning the radar and I want all my money back. Another thing is I don't want loose parts in my center console somewhere. Any links or instructions would help. Anyways, thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Need help on disassembling center console.
I'm having this exact same problem with the V1 power plug, where the connector and fuse fell into the hole in the passenger side power outlet. (Idiotic design on both parts!!)
Anyway, is there a good way to remove the passenger side power outlet so I can retrieve the V1 parts? Can I just pull it out by brute force?
Any info is apprieciated.

Re: Need help on disassembling center console.
You guys talking about the outlet above the passenger "mystery" cubby just to the left of the glovebox? If so, then...

Pull up the front end of the kickplate on the pax side. Pull off the side panel/fusebox area (under/right of the glovebox). Remove glovebox (lower). Remove the trim piece where the outlet is.

Ya gotta work from right-to-left; all the pieces are layered on top of each other.

Re: Need help on disassembling center console.
I had the same problem with my Valentine One. I just bought a new plug from their website and left the metal piece and fuse in the hole. Now I hear a weird sound when I drive so when I get a oil change, i'm going to have the techs check it out.

Re: Need help on disassembling center console.
First off the mystery pocket is for cigarettes. That would be on the driver's side in Japan.

To remove the cig lighter:

Pull the trim along the door sills up towards the top so you can access the kick panel. You only pull the vertical part of this trim off.

Remove the black plastic nut from the far corner (up under the dash) of the kick panel. Now pull the kick panel directly towards the center console. It's held on by 2 clips (top and bottom).

There are 6 screws holding the glove box on. You'll see 4 if you open the box, the other 2 are on the bottom corners.

The 12v power and cig pocket are held on by 1 screw and the rest just pops out. I have some pics I took this weekend if you need a little more help.

Re: Need help on disassembling center console.
Yes! Please post the pics. I really would like to do this myself but am too afraid to break something. I got 5 of the screws off and the glove box doesn't even budge. The screw on the bottom right corner is covered by the side trim piece and I didn't know how to get that off. So you just pull it and it's OK? Once I remove the 6 screws would the glove box remove pretty easily or do I need to pull hard in a certain direction.
Thanks a lot for the help.

Re: Need help on disassembling center console.
Use the beginning of this link to figure out how to remove side panel, glove box and cig lighter panel.

http://www.g-owners.com/article_read.asp?id=19

Pull back on insulating trim at edge of passenger door and "Inifniti" door sill. Pull passenger kick plate medially to disengage clips. This should reveal the last mystery screw that holds the glove box on the right bottom. remove the bottom left screw and the four along the top of the glove box. Pull the glove box directly towards the rear of the car. It will unhook from its plastic hooks. Don't have to discconect any wires, just let it gradually hang down. the wire that functions for the trunk release cancel will be the tightest wire. Now you can pull the cig lighter panel laterally to the right and disengage the clips . Now you have access to the cig lighter.

Re: Need help on disassembling center console.
After you remove those 6 you need to grab the upper and outer portion (by the door) and pull straight down. It's clipped in on the upper corners, left and right.

Re: Need help on disassembling center console.
Wow! It's happened to other ppl as well! My V-1 plug went kablooie when I had the loaner car. I think I twisted it when it went in and that's why the fuse and tip fell into that hole!

Needless to say, I also had to take the car apart in order to get it out. Since you're already back there, it's a good time to check the condition of your HVAC filter as well. The rental's was fine.

I was thinking since he's back there might as well hardwire it and you won't have to worry about that anymore.

Re: Need help on disassembling center console.
I actually got V1 to send me replacements the first time I lost the connector tip. I had no idea where it went. So it turned out that I had TWO connector tips lost in the socket. I ended up recovering one of them and losing the other one permenently inside the car. Now I've taped behind that stupid hole in the socket so I will not lose any stupid V1 tips in there again.
Anyway, thanks for all the help on this problem. I love this forum!
