i did that before, but mine was different... when i had my stock 18's, i turned off my VDC and did doughnuts, the SLIP light went on but there was no traction control. after my doughnuts my SLIP light was still on... WTF, so i turned off the car and restart... and the light went was gone... 15 seconds later, my Power Steering pump went out warranty covered it

That's correct. In this scenerio, with the VDC light off, the VDC is on as it normally is, and stays on until the ignition is turned off and the engine is restarted.
What GTT has discovered is the way to prevent the VDC from being turned off. Apparantly the techs at the shop have need of this feature for something.

If u turned the VDC off, you car won't turn it off actually. It will make the VDC less sensitivity. So if your car slipped really hard with VDC off the traction will control your car (I tried this on snow, I tuned the VDC off and every time my car slips I can hear the traction working).

SO, my guess when you do push the VDC for 20sec, the VDC will turn off completely.
